Its definitely a Tuya device which probably uses the new format that doesn't work in Tuya-convert yet.
Was able to add it in Smartlife Tuya app.
It shows up as an ASC and even the help link on it in the app links to the CBI home page.
So at least do not need to use the CBI Home app.

Next step will be to see how to open it up. Looks possible, even though it also looks well built.

I heard Tuya was going to be moving away from ESP8255/86 controllers to something proprietary, I doubt its happened yet though.
Most likely they just changed part of the procedure again that was exploited in Tuya-convert.
Even if the device is stuck on Tuya its not too bad, its still going to interface with HA but then I have to move it into a VLAN with internet access which is a pain.

Well here is the bad news.

There is a WR3E board in the switch so definitely not compatible with Tasmota according to https://templates.blakadder.com/lumary_led_strip.html

Newer versions of the controller in this set no longer contain an ESP-82** chip, instead containing a WR3E, which is not compatible with Tasmota.

Damn so its started then, admittedly its been a few months since I followed those developments and I was hoping it would be a while off still.
I expect this is going to be the case with most of the newer Tuya devices coming out.

I see someone took a plug with the WR3E and replaced it with an ESP12. Way more effort than Im willing to put in but could be an option.

I was going to suggest that, you beat me to it. An ESP12 module is R60’ish, hopefully it’s pin compatible as the boards look almost identical.

Haha it all depends. Is a R500 switch. So still want to decide how much I want to try before settling for Tuya plugin in HA.

The problem with the Tuya plugin is that it doesn't support energy monitoring. It only gives you normal on and off options. You can still use that in automations, but you don't get power monitoring to make nice graphs with

Got myself 3 of these. 1 for the main house geyser , 1 for the cottage geyser and 1 for I haven't decided yet. Delivery was quick. Ordered on Sunday night, delivered to Durban on Tuesday morning.

So you got me curious. Bought a bunch of those CBI breakers and ESP12 modules to mess around with. I didn't realise they supported power monitoring, hence my interest. Pity my DB board is chockfull so I'll need to make another plan

You could always install it next to the geyser in a mini db box there, if its inside your roof.

I am still deciding if I want to do that or what exactly.

Already have 3 DB boxes, 1 in house, 1 at pool pump and another 1 in the garage.

You know, that's a good idea installing it next to the geaser rather. And I have a DB at the pool pump that I can install another one into. Just waiting for another AP to come as wifi by the pool is gagga.

Yes - tight squueze, I had to take the white cover off and remove the LED. A Shelly 1 might be a better fit. (or maybe one of the newer Sonoffs, not sure if they're smaller)

You could, if you have space which is unlikely. Often easier to just replace it with a Sonoff lightswitch.

Yeah, I thought space might be a big issue here ... hence first asking before stripping it down ... LOL
