Any idea of getting those slamphers in bayonet? or it is possible to get a converter for it?

Nope - I asked the same thing, as most my lights are either bayonet or the smaller E14 screw in. They have no plans at all.

You can get an adapter (I bought one) and it works fine, but note it makes the unit very 'high' in that it either may not fit in a light fitting or poke out the top if it does. You'll need to measure to see

This would add about 2cm.

Thanks and Thanks! That would be quite high then but I will measure.

I see those converters go for about R6.

Btw, for the second one I would need conversion the other way. Bayonet fixture to Screw-in bulb.

Or go from bayonet fixture to screw in converter, screw in slampher, screw in to bayonet converter, then my bayonet fixture ... will be able to light up the sky with that!
 
Long ago when I got my Alexa, I had to re-program a SONOFF with custom ESP8266 Code to emulate a WEMO switch using the Arduino IDE.
Is that still the case ? or do they now work straight out the box when I ask alexa to search for devices ?

I also bought a SONOFF light switch from micro-robotics but its square and I think its meant for the UK , It doesnt fit my light switches.
Will the US ones work ?

They work out the box with Amazon Alexa or Google Home - no re-program needed. I use two Dots and my place and can control the plugs / lights individually or a group (ie the three lamps in the living area with one command). Something else which may have changed since you used them, is that in the past you needed to say 'Alexa, tell ewelink to turn on the lounge' - where as now it's simply 'Alexa, turn on the lounge'

EDIT : Also, should hopefully be supporting IFTTT by year end ...

The're both technically the same - it's just the shape that differs (EU is square and US is rectangle). I doubt that US will fit in EU didn't. Do you have neutrals?

Cant remember if I saw the neutral, But before I even installed them the Square one doesnt close the hole in the wall. So I didnt bother any further., So I hope if I use the US rectangular Sonoff in Portrait it will fit.

I always thought IFTTT works with Alexa ? Maybe I'm confusing it with some other Alexa App, I remember you had to say something "Alex tell bla bla bla" Thats why I had to reprogram the Sonoff with custom WEMO code https://github.com/witnessmenow/esp8266-alexa-wemo-emulator

I only have to say "Alex turn on the desk lamp" and on my phone I have an app called reverb which is a "Virtual" alexa and it shares the same environment which I use to turn on off devices from a remote location.

Sorry - I meant Sonoff doesn't work with IFTTT yet an should hopefully by year end.

Yup - the old days was 'Alexa, tell ...' - but that's sorted now with no hacks or anything.
 
A small point of interest. The Sonoff only needs the Live and the Neutral on the input side to allow for it to be operational.

Input ---------L----xxxxxx ---------L---Output-------
Input ---------N---xxxxxx --- Leave open.

This is on the Sonoff Basic, the neutral can be connected directly and does not need to go though the unit.

This should allow for only a single wire to be lead to the switches instead in a double wire, down to the light switch and then back to the light.

(Hope it makes sense).

Makes perfect sense dude... and I’m contemplating doing that for my setup when I get around to it

So basically 2 wires from light fitting to sonoff and then 1 from sonoff to switch

Pretty much

You currently have a live going down to the switch and up to the lights... you just need to bring a neutral to the sonoff but not back up

100% - this is to ensure the Sonoff device has power (WiFi draws too much to be used off a battery). The switch only needs to cut off (and reconnect) the live cable to the lighting.

  • 1 Slampher - Dining Light
  • 1 Basic - TV Lamp
  • 1 Basic - Bedroom Ceiling fan.
  • 1 B1 - Bedroom Light
  • 1 B1 - Lounge Light
  • 1 Slampher - Front Light

More to come. :D
