Whose going to the Southyeasters Summer festival next weekend?

On another note, anyone know how one can get involved in brewing in terms of a commercial manner, like help out at a brewery etc.

just don't tell them you only wanna help out, cause all you'll find yourself doing all day is clean mashtuns :)

Anybody in Cape Town selling unused/unwanted functioning brewing equipment, specifically looking for a pot and burners? A friend wants to convert from cooper kits to BIAB, but doesn't want to invest in brand new/expensive equipment, yet.

Hoping to attend the Summer Festival this weekend but the other half wants me to go with to the food convention as well.

Why not look into urns? Electricity aside ( since I can't compare cost of elec vs. gas ), urns are much cheaper. I got a 50L one, brand new, for R899 and a second hand 50L for R399 off gumtree. You can't even find a decent SS pot for that price ( cheapest pot i found was ~R1400

Can you replace the tap of that 50l urn with a proper one to keep it from possibly blocking?

Where did you buy the 50L urn for that price?

Game. Just did my first all grain batch today and it handled a boil quite nicely.

After some fun in the sun, my latest brew is now fermenting ( I really hope it comes out as good as i expect ).

Also thought to make a small test batch of Apple and Rooibos cider ( thats the orange stuff in the bergie bottle )

Nice.

Had a frustrating brewday, both gas bottles ran out with 15 minutes to go. Currently trying to cool down the wort so I can pitch (digital thermometer lied to me while I was using the chiller, so I put it in the fermenter at 35C instead of 22ish)

Oh well, SY festival tomorrow where I'll find out how our entry into the Wolfgang Cup faired in the judging today.
