Hey they came up with the stupid name, not me. It only goes to prove that it's more of a psychological thing than I thought.

Yea I've noticed that. When I asked him about reasons to circumcise a baby he called me an angsty angry teenager.

Dude, collectives of people try to come up with witty acronyms to label themselves with all the time. It is a matter completely separate to the information laid out on the page.

People who are under the impression that circumcision is an innocuous little procedure with no long-term side-effects worth mentioning are in a state of ignorance. To take issue with the name of an organisation which attempts to elucidate this ignorance without taking anything they say into consideration is, dare I say it, a little childish. Even more so because their name refers simply to the act of foreskin restoration - it's not a claim that men with mutilated, half-functional todgers cease to be men.

Well given the low self esteem of the type of person who needs a regrown foreskin to feel 'restored' it's not really suprising.

Name aside, they seem to make stuff up on the site or stretch the truth to suit their obvious agenda.

You'll need to substantiate that. Far as I can see every point they raise is referenced. I'd also be interested to hear what the 'agenda' behind not advocating useless surgery could be - as opposed to the multi-billion $$$ industry that is infant circumcision.

Well if the group's name is anything to go by it's for men who feel they've been robbed of their manhood, that could be their 'agenda'.

Can't figure out if you're trying to be clever, or if you fail at reading. What I said was in response to you taking issue with their name, not them choosing to call themselves what they do.

You consider it useless, the CDC and NHI seem to think it reduces the chances of disease transmission.

Err... well one is related to the other. Being 'witty' in the face of what they try to bring across as a serious matter is a bit counter productive don't you think? A name like "Guys who miss their foreskins and want them back" would have been better, albeit not as 'witty'.

Either way, giving this subject some thought on the way home I've decided to apologise for making a mockery of groups such as these and the forum members on here that are afflicted by it. It's a psychological issue and those shouldn't be made fun of.

As has been repeatedly stated in this thread, the proposed benefits do not hold under scrutiny & are easily trumped by quite simple practices of hygiene and safe(r) sex. The last time this was discussed I recall coming across a meta-analysis that stated it would take 72 circumcisions to prevent one HIV infection. Hardly seems worth it. Athlete's foot is a rather annoying fungal infection with wide precedence - shall we amputate infants' toes in order to save them the possible anguish?

It's a physiological issue with possible psychological effects. To continually trivialise the physical is disingenuous as far as I'm concerned. I see no reason to alter my view that it amounts to nothing more than child abuse and mutilation.

Must be huge with babies. A lot of parents getting their babies elective cosmetic surgery these days? You know my child's nose did look a bit squashed. Maybe I should have rushed off to have it altered. Chubby too. Perhaps a bit of liposuction was in order.

People are unhappy will all kinds of body parts and wish it altered. That does not mean there is something wrong with that body part, but rather with that person's self image.

And if you're uncircumcised, but a proponent of circumcision why don't you go have it done. Let us know how cool it is. And if you think it is great, then by all means promote it to other, adult, men.

Hacking up baby boys? Boy, you and porchrat have deeply seated angst against the procedure, there are millions of guys out there who have had the procedure and have not felt violated, and then you get you chaps.
