Also keen on that yellow one. I briefly toyed with the idea of getting two of them instead of a soundbar for a TV situated close to the bedrooms, but I think I am trying too hard to justify this purchase atm.

The problem there and why I haven’t done this is they only work with the Apple TV.

If they worked with other devices like the TV directly and I could use my PlayStation and Xbox would have been an easy sale.

If the bigger HomePod was still around and launched here, I'd buy it day one. Heck I'd put one in every room. By almost all accounts it was a phenomenal product. But this Mini thing I'm not so sure.

Using two of these as Mac speakers, now that actually sounds like a fun idea. I'll have to look into that.

Edit: Horrific delay apparently. That's a real shame.

Homepod minis are nice but I often wish they could be a bit louder. Anything under 50% volume is pretty much useless.

Can’t say I’ve ever found them lacking and I don’t think I’ve ever used them at full volume levels.

Not a moer, these things simply won’t switch to the SA Siri without breaking.

Even after a full reset.

I wonder if people buying them today are going to run into some fun times.

Can’t say I’ve ever found them lacking and I don’t think I’ve ever used them at full volume levels.

I guess I just live in a noisy neighborhood. I generally use them at 55-70 percent which is mostly fine but compared to other devices at that volume it seems somewhat low.

If you use them as speakers for a Mac, there is a 1-2 sec delay according to countless recent comments on Reddit. Not an issue for general speakers, but a stuff up for computer speakers obv.

Well that’s because a percentage can never be equal across different devices.

It’s a measure against its own peak decibel output and that will always differ from one device to another.

Also, Apple being Apple you can be assured it’s been purposely limited so they can run at 100% all day long without any distortion whereas other products would have left it up to the user to have a bad experience and then turn it down or kill it in the process.

Hmm will have to test this.

I’m very sensitive to audio delay (so much so I change the wire from my TV into my soundbar when watching movies on my Apple TV) and have never noticed it and use it like that in my office and bedroom quite a lot.

Could be a specific tvOS version issue maybe.

Haven't used AirPlay with them in a while but I can't remember any delays, music, video or otherwise.

EDIT: Eishkom has me 30 minutes into a four and a half hour loadshed... Will test when we power back up and update.

UPDATE: Okay... Not running any kind of software or YouTube test but I've hit the play button on Netflix, Disney+ and the TV app on my Mac and AirPlayed the sound to every pod in the house, and I absolutely, positively can't spot any lags or delays at all.
