To clarify, the reduced rev limiter only applied to north American AP2s 2.2L while the rest of the world retained the original 2 litre 9000rpm. Keep in mind this car was designed in the 90's and introduced nearly a decade ago, well ahead of its time and competitors back then. It's still nice to see it holding its ground against newer cars in the same segment.
I remember CAR, moterend, Road Track ran reviews back in the 1999 (SA car mag Apr edition?) and it trashed every rivals back then.

Rumours are abound about a sucessor around 2010/2011.

Yup, I heard 2012

W.r.t the rev limiter, I test drive a 2004, and it was limited to 8500? Can't comment on the 2009.

From wiki
The AP2 also included the introduction of a larger version of the F20C to the North American market only. Designated F22C1, the engine's stroke was lengthened, increasing its displacement to 2,157 cc (132 cu in). At the same time, the redline was reduced from 9,000 rpm[5] to 8,000 rpm with a cutout at 8,200 rpm,[6] mandated by the longer travel distance of the pistons. Peak torque increased 6% to 162 ft·lbf (220 N·m) at 6,200 rpm and the F22C1 was quoted by Honda as having more torque at lower rpm than the F20C, although power output was the same. The F22C1 was used exclusively in the North American market for 2004 and 2005 with the F20C being used in all other markets.

2004–2006 (F20C) Redline 9000 rpm
2004–2009 (F22C) Redline 8000 rpm

Yeh - was thinking of doing that.

Wouldn't suprise me if it was an import though, I once test drove a Tiburon which was slightly different to the ones here, asked the dealer, and he said it was an option when ordering it new, needless to say I found out it was imported.

All s2000s are manufactured in Tochigi Japan hence all of them are imported. That would explain why the parts are so expensive including the "H" badge you had to replace :) So whats the highest rpm you've revved?

I would like to know what are the services like (avg. price) ? Do you use honda or some backyard mechanic ?

9500 (I assume), its after the rev counter starts flashing red.

My last service was R800 at Honda for an $%^$% oil change. I hear a major service is about R2000

Pfff... S2000's are over rated, I don't like them really...

You must be one of the few... its a great car. I can't wait to see what they release next, hopefully its on the same level as the S2000 was in 1999.

For some real world comparisons, check here... S2000 vs Megane R26 - http://www.fastestlaps.com/index.php?page_id=compare&car1=458a7dd85127d&car2=4629d358f03bf

Thanks - although I don't agree, the S2000 is well liked as a track car, and this is the rating they gave it:

Track Performance 2 point compared to 56 for a Megane?
