Further to my earlier post - I requre a webhost.
5 Pop mail accounts
say 20 aliases
Away Message
Forwarding

Mweb is just useless at fowarding and I have lost many emails due to their incompetence, so now I want my own email control. I just have to think of a domain name!!

I want a reliable company, not one of these fly-by-night/run from home web host people.

When they say 300 Mb transfer, does that include the Pop traffic?

Looking to pay up to R30 / month.

Any ideas of who I can get- besides those webhosts trying to promote their own business... but you can also post yours

I've been using
Code:
http://www.serv.co.za
to host a couple websites for the past year. Minimal downtime, and excellant support.

Another excellent choice is Afrihost - lots of features standard in packages you pay stax for with other hosts.
I have 5 domains happily hosted with them. :D
Many other good ones out there as well, but as you rightly mentioned - a lot of 'fly-by-nites' too...

I host with www.texo.co.za

I've mentioned it many times on the forum, the level of support I've received from them is beyond what any hosting business does in this country.

Check out the site and packages, if you have questions before signing up, send them an email ;)

I've got about 3 domains with them at the moment and it's worth every penny.

Good sales pitch hey? ;) :D :p It happens when you give service, then your clients love to talk about you :p

Texo

Texo looks good - but how are they so cheap compared with other web hosters?

Sounds good - have sent them an email about some stuff, awaiting reply...

Now I just need to think of a domain name that is not corny or lame. Hmm...

Just take your time, don't rush ;) A good domain is a short domain, without any apostrophe's like - or anything, something that's easy to type and remember (preaching to choire, hey teraside.co.za ) ;) :D :p

Hopefully inspiration will come to me while I am sleeping tonight. It better cos I need to sort this ASAP. Main reason: MWeb's email fowarding is cr@p. So now with my own domain I can control it myself as well as move away from Mweb to a cheaper ISP. Kapish!

I have been pretty happy with Elite Host... they are cheap and reliable. Their cheapest plan is R20 a month... not sure if that will cover your needs.

I was using Afrihost and was unhappy with the fact that they offer no telephonic support. I don't know if they have changed that policy lately but it was irritating for me not being able to talk to them directly. You have to send an e-mail and then wait for them to get back to you.

How about I'll give it to you for six months free and if you are satisfied you can make a payment?

Just send me your domain name that you want to use and email address where you can receive your account detail.

Hi davep001,

If you are still looking for a web host we would love to hear from you. Those requirements will definitely not be a problem ;)

Feel free to contact either myself or our Sales if you have any questions.

I'm currently hosting with WebOnline, but now I need more space - currently only have 150MB.

I need to add a further 250MB at least.

Texo has way more than I need and has vastly more bandwidth. What is the process to switch providers to Texo? The web form is a little less than intuitive when choosing the transfer domain option...

Hi carudden
It's very simple -- just let us know what you need done, and we'll take care of it all for you.

Please email me / PM me if you would like to go ahead.

Hi carudden,

You would need to either ask Texo to initiate the transfer on your behalf or you would need to do this yourself - it's not too complicated and is handled by UniForm's http://co.za/coza_reg.txt

As I see it, you would need to use the link http://texo.co.za/welcome/cart.php to order the hosting package and then update your domain to their name servers.

Good luck!

Thanks Guys!

I've emailed Webonline to ask what options are available to me to increase disk space, as I'd ideally like to host locally.

Will be in contact.
