Signed up with these guys a few days ago, and we're very impressed so far. So believe me when I say I am not complaining - but I'm responsible for our company's webstore so I need to know if Hostking's server experiences downtime often.

Hi

I am not aware of us being down at that time but I can surely check for you. Please send us a support ticket from our client area with your domain and Ill go through our logs to investigate for you. We will sure solve any issue if one exists.

Thank You for replying. Submitted Ticket #230239.
Everything was working fine until I tried to ftp some files (FileZilla, Win 7 Ultimate) and initially it connected but could not list directories. After several attempts, I refreshed my cpanel, only to get "could not connect to server" error message in Firefox. After that, I could not even connect to Hostking.co.za. That's why I panicked and decided to ask here lol :o

Maybe it was just a weird glitch on my end. (I'm still not coming right with ftp btw, but I'm sure a little googling should take care of that)

Hi,

I was too slow to get your ticket. Seems my colleague Warren beat me to it. :( But I checked his response and all is correct. I see the same in the logs.
Hope his response assisted you - if you require assistance with FTP connecting feel free to chat to us on live chat. :) I'm logged on there aswell assisting other clients from time to time.

RESOLVED: User Error

Yes, Warren sorted the matter promptly. And thanks, he DID assist me with configuring the FTP Client as well.
Turns out it was a network issue on my end that triggered my problems; Quote: "...shows your IP address changed. Hence the firewall picked it up as a FTP Distributed attack and blocked your IP"

Clearly I over-reacted, but hey, at least now I know I'm in good hands:)
