The kids will be asleep, wife probably as well after a 12-hour nursing shift and I have to finish work most likely till just after midnight.

After a lot of consideration I have decided that will do as Cyril asked and light a candle to usher in the new year.
Unfortunately due to other obligations I won't be able to do this at midnight, more like 5ish. Depends on when the kids decide they are getting hungry. I may also be drowning my sorrows in a show of solidarity with his emotional plea.
