Just looking on my current wall callendar at how weird the world dateline is... based on appearances the "Near" Islands (Berling Sea, eastern Russia) cheat and get there first. Looks like about 13:30 our time.

But I've heard before that it's weirder than that, starts somewhere around 12:00 or 13:00 (should be 14:00), and ends 15:00 or 16:00 tomorrow which makes our "day" 25 or 26 hours long :-/
It's done by the guilty parties as a tourist attraction. (Or used to be about that anyway.)
