Living in a tin house on gov land...literally a clean shack. I'm known so people don't bother. prepaid electricity and free water. Food is scarce though - I usually do some online transcription and get like R50 a day to buy a beer and a chow. Still studying too so I have to pay Unisa for my Honours program.

It's been a real eye-opener in regard to who my friends and family really are... I used to help them tons when I was well-off. Nobody agreed to help me now. Feels bad man.
Pm your account I'll sponsor you a beer and a burger

Yeah goodness, not sure anybody receives an increase in Dec / Jun?

Mine - if it is coming - will be March.

10% increase in the organization, but I seem to moving to a new company for 30%. Expecting the offer letter tomorrow.

Didn't you say you have kilograms and kilograms of gold or some other nonsense?

ive seen a few posts on linkedin about people being retrenched this year so they won't get an increase

So I suppose Unisa is the good private school @R5k then? Still sucks, sorry to hear.

For 10 years I work as a rep for a company and got once increase and that was only after my probation of 6 months 1 increased from 6500 to 7000 per month. We usually got 13th paychecks last year we didn't get any. But yet the company employed 2 people cause 1 person retired and the other was a new position for a social media and e-commerce specialist something I have qualifications for. Even after asking to fill the position was politely denied.

Pay increase what is that :) have not gone back to my normal salary since after covid happened.

Fun :)

Last year's increase was 3.5%. 2021 we had no increase and 2020 we took a pay cut. Salay is still lower than pre-covid times, but everything costs more. These last few years we have had to make some lifestyle adjustments to make ends meet. Both my wife and I started side hustles. We fill some gaps with the money I earn from my side hustle, the money my wife earns we are saving to make some much needed repairs and improvements at home.

A bit of a hard question to come by as peoples CTC are different.

The first member with a salary of R10,000 holding a 10% increase is R1,000.

& a second member with a salary of R50,000 holding a 10% increase is R5,000.

The 2nd member having a reduced increase of 5% - still has a higher increase than the first member.

This criteria of payout shifts should really be changed into whether or not the company you're in is doing well or bad.

I got 5.5% and benefits reduction. Job security at current company is 50/50. So now trying to find a suitable replacement job and remote work. I plan to allocate out of the big city which I will love more.

I work at ESKOM. Got a pay rise of 50.12% on condition that i work 12 hours of unpaid work.
And SA Load-Shedding is a good thing. Some citizens are just near sighted
