How can the DA grow?

All it takes is one big Rally and using people's desire to conform against them just before the elections. There's no better way to this than to give a T-Shirt in exchange for loyalty and being surrounded by people with the yellow T-Shirts.

Marketing people and politicians know how to manipulate the minds of the masses, ironically you need large groups of people to do this kind of mind manipulation in the first place.

Not really, white people respect well spoken black person who puts themselves forward as educated/charismatic/fun and professional at the same time.
What white people don't like is a black person who utters nothing but rhetoric in an aggressive nature, showing off their bling and riches all whilst preaching to the poor and making obvious unrealistic promises.

The DA needs to stop being the tattle tail all the time and rather lead by example, offering solutions and alternatives. The DA supporters know the ANC is corrupt and screwing up, many of the ANC supports don't or don't think they're doing anything wrong. Offer them other ways of doing things, show the masses how things can be better, how many more houses can be built when you're not dropping R250 million on your palace.

Start grooming a person of colour to take over the leadership, someone that is educated and honorable. Spend the next 3-4 years with that person shadowing Hellan and getting ready to take over. If some whites don't want to vote for a person that is capable just because of colour, well good riddance.

Start campaigning now, meeting with community leaders, listen to them, hear their problems and grievances and worries and start tackling the issues head on. Start funding projects to build houses or get water or basic services in areas that need them, make it public and let them see you doing it. The worst that could happen is the ANC start doing the same, and then even so the people win.

Stop waiting for the votes to rule a province, instead start leading now, even without the official authority.

So people like you said at the end of apartheid, when Mandela was elected, when Mbeki was elected, when Zuma was elected and now again in Zuma`s 2nd term. Have you heard the story about the little boy that cries world?

My family can easily emigrate. We are happy right here thanks. Plenty of opportunity for skilled labor to make lots of money and have a high quality of life :) However, feel free to leave asap. We will see you back in several years :D
 
What about DA intense lobbying the IEC to make it easier for South African overseas to vote? There are an estimated 2 million South Africans abroad. Even if only 50% vote (1 million), that will make a big dent in the ANC's majority.

Set examples instead of constantly berating the ANC. I'm glad they left their 2009 ideas in the trash this time around. Happy people and little to not service delivery protests in areas the lead will do so much more than gaaning on about what the ANC is doing wrong/not doing. By all means have a go at them when they are out of line, but don't make it the focal point all the time.

Great video. One has to ask the question - WHY?

Why couldn't/can't the ANC get clean audits in the various departments?
Why can't they deliver proper services?

Yes, keep on doing it. Then win Nelson Mandela Metro and/or Jo'burg and do it there. It is all they can do. Show people what you can do and continue to refrain from playing the personal game (2009 anti-Zuma campaign).

I voted for them in 2009, 2011 & this time around, but they have irritated me in the past.

That's probably why they boosted their support by almost 50% in one election, consolidated support in the urban areas: Wescape, Gauteng (scared the pants of the ANC) and Nelson Mandela.

The ANC is now relying on a rural vote, which is declining anyway as people migrate to cities.

The saddest thing for me is how the ANC leadership had to rely on lying about Zuma to stay in power and had to play the racist card to gain votes, instead of acting as true leadership and building a non-racial country. Heck, some of those guys took refuge in Zille's own house when the security police were looking for them so they know they have no personal integrity.

Many middle class DA supporters are absolutely committed to eradicating poverty, reducing inequality and creating jobs. They know that the programmes in the Western Cape are the most effective. Why do you think we are so angry when textbooks are dumped in rivers and money on rural projects goes wasted. I am sure most mybb forumites would be happy to back genuine initiatives to connect rural schools and clinics to the internet. The Wescape tried to do this over a year ago, but the small-minded ANC govt was quick to stop them in their tracks.

BS. If SA was going to "slide into darkness", it would have happened already. There have all already been 3 presidents since the end of apartheid. Countries collapse when someone refuses to move over. I doubt Zuma will last much longer. I don't think the ANC will be defeated nationally for a very long time though. But it will happen. Maybe some incarnation of the DA, but not the current version of the DA. This was the first election where the opposition aggressively challenged the incumbent party. The problem is they could only consistently point at one man. Zuma. They never focused on local issues such as the billing issues in Gauteng. They should have been hammering these messages over and over. They mentioned it a few times.

It always amazed me how soft the DA always was. As if they where afraid that by aggressively challenging the ANC they would be tainted somehow. Even when Mandela was president, the fiasco that was the Eastern Cape was never exploited by the DA or even Holimisa's party at the time.

The issues they had with the SABC and their TV ads, should have been better handled. Do what the ANC does. Hand out t-shirts with a dig at ANC corruption printed on it. Use social media. Make better use of the right radio stations. They spent far too much time preaching to the converted. They could have and should have done better. Why where they so afraid to say more on the Marikana issue ? They completely yielded that to the EFF.
 
The clock started with Zuma. Food prices increase noticeably every 6 months but wages and salaries don't match. Thanks to government action, the cost of doing business is increasing and that cost is being passed to the consumer. First there will be strikes, then looting, riots and finally tribal warfare.

I don't think they can in any fast way.

Too long in the tooth, to stuck in their ways and way to many people to please.
