How can the DA grow?

...

They've grown remarkably. Look at their performance:

Year - votes - percentage of vote - seats in NA.

1994 338,426 1.73% 7
1999 1,527,337 9.56% 38
2004 1,931,201 12.37% 50
2009 2,945,829 16.66% 67
2014 4,091,584 22.23% 89

Yet people here insist that the ANC are rigging the vote...I just don't get it.

If white people stop voting for the DA just because the DA's leader is no longer white they need to get their heads checked.

But you know they will lose a lot of the white vote if they do change to black leadership. It's a conundrum for the DA, on the one this very election they were actively courting FF+ voters (the same type who are unlikely to vote for a black person) and on the other hand they have to look beyond race.

Who cares? The white vote will not go towards the ANC. Isn't the point to get ANC out of power, than being able to change the constitution yourself? There are some serious misunderstandings in our political culture as to how the PR system works and the DA has played a negative role in its enforcement. They're not interested in bringing down the ANC. They just want to make their own little power grab, with little to no policy advancement. What exactly is their ideology these days?

Our people are trained to draw the cross next to the anc pic.

Let the people suffer and then hopefully they will think.

DA should run a complete permanent national campaign stating they will not retract grants when they come to power. I think this is the sheeps greatest fear and we have heard over and over how the ANC tells their rural voters if they do not vote for the ANC and another party comes to power they will lose their grants.

Secondly we have to find a loophole that parties are not allowed to give voters anything of monetary or sustany value as part of their campaigns.

This is good advice.

8% of whites voted ANC.
Why won't whites vote ANC?

Because white people won't vote for a black person???

I was sitting at a family braai earlier today celebrating Mothers Day and were were talking about who will be the next leader of the DA. Im not sure how much longer Helen will be around and with Lindiwe out of the picture for a bit, Mmusi stands a good chance. All of us were excited at the idea of him becoming a presidential candidate. The majority of DA voters are happy with this.

It is only a small group that votes for the DA because they hate black people more than they hate liberals.

What? How did you land that? Jealous

Haven't landed anything yet, but I've started the process. Actually inspired by Tim Harris (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tim_Harris_(politician)) as I've followed a very similar career path to him, although in no way as good looking as him :p. Heard him a speak a few times...
