Hi there

This is your chance to tell your WISP (please give their name) how they can improve. Please tell your WISP where they fall short and what they can do to make you a happier customer.

Please try to steer clear of obvious suggestions like “cut prices”, and try to give valuable input about the company’s products and services.

  • Which new products would you like to see?
  • Are there areas where your WISP can improve its support?
  • Can they make it easier for you to buy their products?
  • Where do you think the company is losing ground against its competitors?
By giving your input you will stand a chance of winning a Sony 10’’ 32GB Android Tablet PC or branded gear bundles.

Please post all your feedback to your WISP in this thread. Do not forget to give their name.

I don't belong to a WISP, but for a start they can move out of the unlicensed spectrum so that their customers can experience better QoS, instead of freeloading in the 5GHz band.

Also to think about using non 802.11 equipment. Maybe 802.16 or lte based equipment.

Both these steps will allow for a more stable client connection with more consistent latency giving customers an experience similar to that of fixed line Services.

1. Increase connection speeds ie. 1Mb > 2Mb without additional charges.
2. Speeds are perfect currently. 1 Mb line achieving 120 KB/s
3. Amobia could revamp there existing customer mail and portal areas as I feel that it has definitely fallen short compared to other ISP customer portals.
4. Possibly add an option in the portal to increase speeds for a time period and switch back.
5. Increase coverage
6. Overall I feel that Amobia is doing a sterling job of an ISP. Great service and very minimal down time when it happens.

Cap sizes and speed are starting for fall behind a little in comparison to other internet services.
Otherwise, I don't have any other problems whatsoever.

1. Increase Speed 0.384> 1MB
2. A better customer portal
3. Weekend support is sometimes shocking. :(
4. Better VPN protocols support on uncapped accounts

Overall service has been great after a 18 months of usage

1. Cheaper bandwidth (at least for the higher tiers), their prices are a bit steep in this area in comparison to other WISPs.

Nothing else though; service is excellent (I even get an SMS everytime the tower I'm on goes down due to weather etc), speeds are excellent, line quality is excellent, and equipment costs re setup were the cheapest by far. No other issues. :)

Increase speed or decrease cap price. (Preferably, increase speed performance) Currently you are only just cheeper than mobile broadband options and I feel that once* LTE are deployed in the Cape Metro, I will have a difficult time to choose between LTE or WISP.

* once => if ever in my lifetime

Amobia:
1. Reduce high latency on network
2. Reduce downtime on network and strive towards 99.99% uptime
3. Minimise throttling and shaping on uncapped accounts
4. Speed optimisation on uncapped accounts

Glad to hear you are happy with our service. Our prices will continue to drop as we grow our network.

- Would like to see higher package offers (some Wisps even offer 5mbps speeds),
- Increase the current line speeds,
- Upgrade their email portal to work with IE9 and firefox,
- Revamp their website (would be nice to see a new theme for a change),
- try and lower latency on the local side,
- Try add a feature for the increase of after hour speeds. Maybe share a specific amount of extra bandwidth throughout the night between the network, for example have x amount extra bandwidth, so if 10 people use the network throughout the night then it just splits that bandwidth between them, but if 100 people use the network throughout the night then it splits it between 100 people. Depending on how active the network is....sometimes you will notice it, sometimes you wont.

Should keep them busy for a while with all of the above.

Hi There,
I am not a WISP user but I would like to see WISPS consider these points:
Increased bandwidth
Market your products more aggressively you may get more users including me to consider your offering
Use the licensed bandwidths rather than the unlicensed ones
Improve the customer experience when their is a fault. I have seen plenty of people complaining about the level of service

Regards

Tim

The OP specifically requested your feedback based on experience from actually using a WISP.

You've pretty much listed generic items that every customer asks of their ISP :/

I'm also not part of a WISP, but I might consider using one if upload speeds move higher than what they are in ADSL. 1Mbp/s is really pathetic.

Also latencies would obviously have to be good.
