How Digital Planet can improve?

Hi

In SA the heavy price inflation occurs somewhere around the suppliers/importers im guessing, cant u guys look into shipping the products urselves instead of going through the middleman?
Hi Decotey,

We do ship the products ourselves but we do not hold large amounts of stock as we do not have the facilities for it at this point in time. We rely on our suppliers for most of our items.

Thank you for sending through your feedback - I will forward it on to our Director team.

Kind Regards,
Karyn

Thank you

Minor webpage issue. where is the "pc" subcategory under the "gaming" menu ?
Hi BrendanD,

Thank you for pointing this out. It will be sorted out tomorrow morning.
Please note that at this point in time we do not have new and updated games on the site due to us removing them some time ago. The ones that are on the site now are ones we have in stock.

The reason why we removed the gaming suppliers from our site is due to them not giving us the service that we needed in order to make our customers happy. I am however meeting with one of them this week to try and come to some sort of solution. I am holding thumbs to get some new titles on the site:)

Thanks and Regards,
Karyn

Thanks

Well, I wasn't thinking of anything particular, but now that you mention it, I feel it would be wise to do the most work on items like the most popular brands/models of CPU's, motherboards, GPU's, PSU's, perhaps a few decent ram options, eg. etc.

So if someone happens across an item they want on your site at a good price while surfing multiple sites, and say they do a quick comparison: So first of all they look for and hopefully find most of the items they have decided upon and compare the basket prices (shipping included) to those of the other sites.
Perhaps then they will be inclined to go ahead and get all the items in one go from you, hypothetically, due to the overall price and convenience, compared to purchasing the items from multiple sites. Which is also a hassle due to possible warranty/guarantee issues in the near to rather more distant future.
Hi dudewotevr,

Thank you for your suggestions. I will do some investigating on those categories.

Kind Regards,
Karyn

Hi Brendan,

My apologies in the delay in getting back to you. I have investigated the reason why we do not have PC listed as a category under gaming and it is due to the fact that we do not have any PC games in stock. As I said in my previous reply, I am meeting with a supplier this week to discuss opportunties for gaming on our site.

Thanks and have a great evening!

Kind Regards,
Karyn

Hi guys,

Just a reminder that I have an 8% discount voucher that I would like to send through to you if you are interested - please send me an email ([email protected]) and I will give you the voucher number.

Thanks alot!

Quick question

My suggestions:

1) Improve your search function. A customer should be able to search by category e.g. games, software etc. In a particular search category there should be more sub-categories e.g. PS2 Games in Games.
Hi Franna,

With regards to your above suggestion - do you see our sub categories at all? When you mouse over the top categories? Please see attachment.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks
Karyn

Hi Karen,

I was re-looking at something today on your website. Last time I saw it the price looked OK with free shipping and VAT INCLUDED. Now if I go to the checkout, TAX is added. What tax is that?

Sackboy

Not for me, went all the way to the payment screen:
Sub Total (Including Discounts): R 1,653.40
Shipping: (inc vat) (Free Shipping)
Tax: R 203.05
Total: R 1,653.40

Well click GET ESTIMATES and see what it says.
I didn't go to the payment because I would have to register and you don't get any price updates at that point.

It would appear to show a price (inc VAT) when viewing an item, and then when you put in a postcode and ask for an estimate, the VAT comes back to clobber you.

Ah - sounds like a site glitch :)

Payment screen stays right though... good find :)

Might just be my perception, but when you click on 24 hour shopping / computing etc at the top and see you the drop down menu. It just doesn't look very professional. Looks like the code was put together using notepad :)

A few other really small things, but while I'm on the site I might as well mention it.

1) you might want to update the copyright from 2007 to 2009

2) When you click on a topic for example http://www.digitalplanet.co.za/c-50-accessories.aspx at the bottom left it displays a number (3- 54 from the above example)
I presume it because there's 54 items on the page - but does this service any purpose?

Update: I've also sent you a email over a possible security flaw.

Your details

You won't be able to see the basket, but follow through on this one (example)
https://www.digitalplanet.co.za/p-1...ernal-hard-drive-seagate-docking-station.aspx

If you put in a cape town post code (8000 for example) it comes up with:

This item has free shipping
R 1,653.40 inc vat
VAT: R 203.05

then the price jumps from that advertised:

Shipping And Tax Estimate
Shipping: FREE
Tax: R 203.05
Total: R 1,856.45

Just wondering what the tax is.

Hi Sackboy,

Could you please email me your details (email address that you are placing the order with) so that I can get my Dev guy to look into it? Please email [email protected] and I will sort this out urgently.

Thanks
Karyn

Hi gregmcc,

Thank you for your feedback.

We went onto a new backend system recently which added a few extra things onto our website and changed the look and feel of a few sections. I will discuss your feedback and see what other options we have.

Thank you for your email too, we are looking into it.

Kind Regards,
Karyn

Feedback on Suggestion 2

2. Prophecy (the only one I'm aware of at the moment) manages to maintain free shipping on orders over R1k, and I believe strongly that this should be the standard considering you want people ordering from all over the country and not have them worrying about excessive fees (in which case they might as well go with someone local)
Hi dudewotevr,

Just a bit of feedback on your second suggestion.

We are trying something on Digital Planet where all orders between R500 and R1500 will receive 50% discount off of their delivery fee and all orders over R1500 will have free delivery.

Thanks and have a great weekend! :)

Hi Sackboy,

It looks like it is just showing you how much of the Rand value is tax. I will confirm with my Dev guy though.

Karyn
