I've got a 1GB desktop RAM module that I'm trying to ID without sticking it in a machine. Physical attributes (slot position) suggest DDR SDRAM, but the sticker on it says PC400, which I understand to be RDRAM, a totally different kettle of fish. Can someone shed some light on this?

Nope, it's normal DDR400 in all probability. Does the module have a single or two notches on the bottom side? Two = RDRAM, 1 = DDR

Definately DDR400. Those old expensive modules. About 13 cm long, 3 cm high and the notch just off center.

Yeah, that's the one. Seems it's fairly common practice to refer to DDR400 as PC400, confuses the hell out of me. Makes it even worse when the module bears a barcoded, carefully printed sticker proclaiming PC400
