How do I tell people that...

Just tell them hey.
Even the super conservative will get over it soon enough.

My cousin is gay, his whole family are from the dark ages and they have very quickly evolved. Better for all of us :)

Why even come out? Just start dating when you're ready (after matric). Varsity is really cool because no one cares what other people do or don't (at least the one I went to (not UCT))

Yeah Tera...you said "My Advice:" followed by a few "facts", and then asking him "Are you really sure you're gay?"
That's not advice mate, that sounds like you are trying to convince yourself that being gay is somehow "wrong"

let it go man, the guy is gay. he doesn't need your "facts" on life, he needs help on coming out.

Trust me... a lot of your friends and perhaps your parents probably know already.

Coming out in school is very hard (or being different in any way)... in university not so much. You can join the pride club and they will look after you.

I never actually told my parents I was atheist, they just understood after a while. I think they would prefer me to be gay.

Tell your parents first... then perhaps a female friend, proceed depending on her reaction.

@Davey

are there other gay dudes in your school that you are aware of? How are they treated?

You have to be very sure in your own mind that what you are, is not wrong and nobody must be able to convince you otherwise!

If in doubt about the timing, I would recommend to wait till you are out of school

Good luck!

I've never been a gay basher

Never blatantly, I suppose. You do however spend a lot of time trying to pull the old conversion trick on gays. As if your motives for questioning his preference was altruistic? Bull. It was born from a deep-seated homophobic religious attitude...

but you are a liar, since your statement is untrue.

So you're completely okay with gays now? You accept that it is completely natural and you would accept them as your brother?

It's not my life, the OP can choose what to do.

Yet you've spent the better part of this thread trying to convince the OP that he's probably not gay. You come across as genuine as any other "gay-converter". Like pleather...

I'm just here to share the facts of the equation of why men and women choose to live the way they do.

What facts? All that you have is your narrow-minded subjective opinion. It is not a fact. I am dumbfounded by your vocal stance on so many things. Like that time that you told us that only white Afrikaaners drive Land Cruisers and that black people kill each other because they are less evolved and that's what you expect of them. And then went on to defend yourself without seeing what a racist prick you sounded like. Reminds me of what you do every time you involve yourself in a "gay" orientated thread...

Here you go...

Trust me...if you know you gay..then you know. I too knew from a very early age. Now stop brain washing our new recruits! TSEK!

:p

oc thank you very much for defending me :p But yes relating to the last part of what you said, i know my parents will not be too happy on the grandchild part, my mom will be crushed in that way.

You have to do this gradually

First ... buy a iPhone
2nd ... start supporting the Blue Bulls
:D

but seriously...wait till you're done with Matric.

I have a iPhone :D - so im on the right track then? :D

@ OP....if you are in Cape Town....seek out the Pink Triangle project. I used to volenteer there with small little things...so like with the MCQP I helped them pack safe sex packs, little bags with lube, condoms etc. You could make a lot of good friends that way...and not sure if he still there...but they had such a cute doctor there that did free clinic. Too bad I could not ask for a prostate exam seeing I was way too young and it would have been a dead give away lolz. If not in Cape Town...see what other orgs might be in your area.

Seriously? Are you sitting on my rear waiting for the slightest whiff of stink to come out?

The statements I made regarding Land Cruisers (10 years ago maybe?) and black people (20 years ago maybe?) was due to certain things that happened in my life and I was angry that it happened.

You seem so perplexed with me DJ.. Like I'm your little toy to throw around and bash whenever it pleases you.

I don't believe a person is born gay, yes I don't, but I'm not forcing my beliefs on anyone. I explained to the OP that men are intimate through sex and women through communication. Go google it if you don't believe me.

I gave a reason for his choices and asked a question if he was sure that's what he wants in life. I didn't force feed the man, I merely joined a discussion.

Your lies grow evermore. This is the first gay-related thread in a couple of years that I've participated in, so leave your frustration and anger at the door and your unrealistic bond you have with me as well.

Sorry for making 3 posts in a row  its weird writing on a forum...

I have told my parents that I am an atheist, yes i said it!

My mom was like "meh"

I am not an atheist for weird reasons, its just that i couldn't ever believe in a higher power, i control my life.

But from what I am reading come out when school is done seems like the best bet to do, there are some really immature grade 12's I know, but hopefully my friends will understand...

there is one openly gay i guy i know, he is the very feminine type, he is black, he is very powerful at school in terms of controlling groups etc...

It just isn't the same for me :(

You might be gay...but due to the bolded part our interaction will be ending here! :p

Seriously though...regarding your mom....not sure where you stand on kids and if you want them...but it is only natural for a mother to be a grand mother one day and it is a big dream for many. You have to understand and respect this. If you do want kids one day...surrogacy or adoption is always a avenue to explore...so even though the method might be a bit different...her dream does not have to be shattered. She could still one day be a granny.

I'm definitely all for man on man loving but that will happen only when i find the right guy.

i do't think i could join a "org" ;) (keeper) :p just yet, as i don't have my license and to tell my parents to drop off there would be a total wtf on their part 0_o

So i guess in the mean time i will have to do, what ive been doing for the past 8 years...

one day I'll my time to shine :)
