How do I turn voicemail SMS notification off?

Hi, every time I get a voicemail, I also get a sms telling me to phone 121 becauseI have a voicemail. How can I turn this off? I have no need for this since I have visual voicemail on the iphone.
Vodacom support told me to phone 121 and there is an option to turn it off, but as usual they were talking out of their arses.

Been arguing with Vodacom for a while now regarding this... There is still no option to disable the notification. I have escalated it a few times and they just keep saying they'll "consider" it - whatever!!

Restart your phone to see if it's then activated. Also make sure your APN is set to it's default (if not, try resetting your network connections).

Well I contacted Vodacom and apparently it takes 24 hours to activate.

"Can" take up to 24hrs but usually active within a few minutes

I had this issue in the beginning.
You can try this:

Send vvm off to 123
Reboot
Send vvm on to 123
Reboot and then wait for activation. As they say, it could take up to 24 hours.

If all else fails give the support desk a call, and they can manually activate it ?

Right - so VVM is now on. How do I stop the sms now? Apparently you turn it off on the 121 menu but I can't find it...

Read the previous posts - Vodacom does not have a feature to turn it off...

Ooh, interesting... And the visual voicemail still works?? Assuming dialing 121 doesn't work anymore then...?

I would also like to know. Does Visual Voicemail still work after Vodacom suspended your old voicemail service?

I dealt with the advanced data department (had to go through 155 and log a call) do have the old voicemail box deleted. The guy I spoke to said that it's absolutely the case that once vvm is activated, your old 121 box is removed and you shouldn't get the sms notification. Just keep plugging away at the 155 desk and it will happen...

Strange, I have had 2 voicemails today and both just came through visual voicemail, no sms notifications. I have not made any changes to my voicemail. Wonder if Vodacom sorted this out in the last day or two....

Nope, just tested - VVM notification and a SMS Guess I must also call then to delete my old mailbox...

Contacted the Vodacom Twitter guys regarding this. They got back to me and said their technical department says I must call my voicemail and there will be an option to turn SMS notifications off. As you guessed it - no option to do this. I let them know and now they have escalated it - let's see if anything happens or if they let this query disappear...
(I know a few years back there used to be an option to turn SMS notifications off but then you would receive calls reminding you of your voicemail messages - hope they not referring to this because that would again not solve the problem - don't want another kind of notification...)
