This weekend it's been gas for the meat - fire pit for the ambiance - weber for the pizza.

Wood elitists can really go take a long walk off a short cliff. Nothing beats nice Etosha charcoal for convenience and taste.

I don't. Whether i use charcoal or gas its either raw or burnt to a crisp, i can never get it in between. I just go out and order a steak if i feel like one now.

You must be completely useless, it's not rocket science:laugh:

If you can't time it or feel it maybe get a thermometer to stick in the steak.

Since today is also referred to by many as "Braai Day" - what is your preferred fuel when it comes time to heat the grill? Are you a purest who believes only wood will do, or do you lean towards lumps of charcoal, briquettes, or gas?
Wood, pine cones for added flavour when you can find them, and then charcoal and briquettes last. Gas, you might as well cook on a stove.

How do you cook on a stove in a way that is similar to a gas braai?

Usually braai with wood and add charcoal if the wood is crap. Otherwise the closest I come to charcoal only braai is when visiting someone else.
