Wood, some of my wood from the garden trees is not great so a few briquettes to add some long heat and the gas braai as overflow if there are a lot of people/food or feel like doing the whole spit thing, just easy with the motor attachment.

Speaking of wood - I'm not sure I ever got an answer to my earlier enquiries but... milkwood - good for braai'ing?

No, it's not good for braai'ing? Why? Is it toxic to burn or does it leave a bad aftertaste?
Not good for braai'ing. Foul smell and smoke, that I would guess will go into the meat. Also, doesn't burn very well, they're used as 'firebreaks'. Almost no coals. And if you cut it down and use it for fire wood, you stand a chance to be arrested.
Regarding toxicity, I don't know, but I almost want to wager it must have some form in there.

If you do decide to do a test run, do tell us how it went.

I don't. Whether i use charcoal or gas its either raw or burnt to a crisp, i can never get it in between. I just go out and order a steak if i feel like one now.
For the purpose of the vote though, I have a built-in gas braai so i chose gas.

Does wood create as much smoke as coal or briquettes?
