How do you clean your spectacles?

I got Guess frames. You would think the cloth they supply with it would be of fantastic quality. I am not sure what you mean by coating? I just know that the optometrist said she is gonna do lenses for me with anti glare (I have a aversion to bright light ... cant stand it ... and she said I have rather large pupils as opposed to other people and that is why I dont like bright light). I think the anti glare helps more with bright lights at night ... when I drive during the day I just use my shades. Is this the coating you talking about?

Well, you get crappy cloths from all brands, but clean it with sunlight and let it dry and try it again. The coating I was referring to is anti-glare, which is anti-reflective coating that makes the lenses more transparent with less internal reflections. But you get lots of different options. Some of the coatings include a hard-coat that makes the lenses more resistant to scratching, and the more expensive types have a hydrophobic layer as the outermost, that makes it a LOT easier to clean. Look at something like Hoya HVLL for your next lenses (http://www.hoya.co.uk/index.php?SID=525e56d91b16b547960109&page_id=19326). Pair that with Hoya PNX lenses or Eyas or Eynoa, depending on your prescription and your budget.

If my specs are really smudged at work, I hold the lenses over a boiling kettle until the dirt loosens up sufficiently to be wiped away.

Not sure what coating I have on my lenses. But the only thing that seems to work is to mist them up and use those special cleaning cloths to wipe them clean. Tissues do not seem to work. Every couple of weeks I wash them with soap and water.

When my spectacles get too dirty, I usually put on some porn on the pc and start to fap. I then proceed to wipe all of the precum from my penis on to the lens of the glasses and then use my shirt to wipe it in circles until the glasses are sparkling clean.

rofl :D

Some good advice above.
DO: Rinse your lenses when needed under a warm tap with some dishwashing liquid rubbed on both sides of lenses. Rinse thoroughly and dry thoroughly. A dry towel dabbed on the lenses (not wiped) helps mop up excess water. Once dry, rub lenses with micro-fibre cloth. This process gets rid of grit, dust build up on greasy lenses. A dilute mix of methylated spirits and water sprayed on lenses and cleaned with micro-fibre cloth also works well.
Your anti-reflex coating sits atop a hard coat which helps make your lenses scratch-resistant not scratch-proof.

DO NOT:Breathe on lenses before cleaning them. Unless you like your lens grooves and nose-pads covered in green cheese.
-do not use tissue, clothing, hankey, etc to wipe lenses, this will scratch your lenses over time.

I've had spectacles for about 3 years now. I used to have the cloth for cleaning it, but then that got more and more dirty, so I threw it away. I used to have lens spray that I would use together with the cloth for it, that really did the trick for me.

Now days, I just use my T-Shirt to clean the lenses.....will buy the spray again some time :)

Don't know what you've got got against Kleenex/kitchen towel/toilet roll, that's all I use to dry & polish after cleaning with soapy water and there are no scratches on my current 2yr old lenses (obviously you have use clean tissue each time, used bog-roll is not recommended :D).

I have always use a small dab of sunlight and spreading it on both side and then washing with water, and then any fast food joints napkins I might have to dry with.
^this. Dishwashing liquid works wonders. Normal soap cleans them but leaves an annoying film.

Loo roll works well to dry them when done.

You probably have an anti reflex coating (ARC) on your lenses. You can detect this coating by looking at your lenses - they will reflect light with a green/purple hue visible on the lens. We do not particularly like this coating because the lenses have a tendency to appear to be dirty/greasy when they are not. This leads the user to want to clean them more often ... leading to more scratches in the end due to improper cleaning methods.

For day to day cleaning, use a clean microfibre cloth.
For stubborn stains use those Zeiss lens wipes your optometrist sells...

We got a bunch of those as samples ... yet we still use methylated spirits and soft tissues in the laboratory to clean our lenses. We tend to recommend lukewarm water to rinse the dust of the lenses and then liquid soap (sunlight) & water to wash the lenses and then a soft microfiber cloth to remove the remaining water. But for the end-user these wipes could come in handy if you are away from home.

Lol, look at all of you with four eyes and weak eyesight :p

A drop or two of cane or vodka per lens and then wipe with a lint-free or microfibre cloth...

First get as much of the dust off the lenses by rinsing them... otherwise you will merely be forming a nice moist paste that you are scratching your lenses with.

Not all the peeps here are wearing glasses because of their 'weak' eyesight...

My hand normally slips on the optic and the entire frame and my hand gets covered in cane/vodka - this rinses off any dust!!!
