How do you define "Rich"

Well earning R1.2 mill a year is R100k a month , of which you will probably see what 65k-70k a month?

thats more then fine if you can manage your money :p

But i also dont think thats really rich...

Rich is around R500k - R1 million a month imo.

I once heard someone say:

Rich is how long you can live without earning a cent. So if you have 3 months savings you are 3 months rich. If you have debt that will take 3 months to pay off you are -3 months rich.

Rich = One house in GP, one in CPT, both paid off
Very rich = buy BMW for cash/EFT

Unisa defines them as the “emerging affluent”, and indicates they are a lot more affected than the affluent (R650000 to R1-million annual salary) and the high net worth individuals (above R1-million).
The person who wrote this is clueless. I can earn 50 million and spend 50 million...and then I'm not a "high net worth individual"...cause then I'm broke.

I also don't see how people that are "borrowed to the hilt" can be classified as rich. If your liabilities exceed your assets you're hardly rich. A lot of this article doesn't really make much sense to me.

I don't think you can define rich :/

And everyone is going to see rich as being one (or a few) levels above them.

Rich is always comparative to those around you. In this country Id say, if you get R50k+ pm after tax as a single person, then you are "rich".

But I know people who are so sht with money, that when I was making 6k pm and they were making 50k pm, I was making a bigger profit than they were each month hahahahahahahahaha coke heads

rich is more is ppl who can afford a nice house cars and have enough money to buy whatever they want

o yes not on credit either :)

It seems then we are in agreement that you cant be rich if you are struggling with debt, no matter how much money you earn every month. :D

well sox some oke who earns 10k right lives up to 10k

an oke earning 100k lives like he earns 100000k, this guy is no better off than the oke earning 10k in terms of available money

so in order to be rich you should have no debt and earn a good monthly salary

Rich is being free to do what ever you want whenever you want where-ever you want and not having to worry about what it will cost you.

Rich: You have wants
Poor: You have needs
Wealthy: You avoid the need for wants (i.e build more richness or wealth)

You are rich when you step in dog sheet on your way to your ferrari, and you throw away the shoes and just put "the next pair" on.

Also, a Blonde in a Bikini must be present at the piano shaped pool. (Bean shaped don't count, LOL)

The majority of people work for their money.

When your money starts to work for you then you have entered another league.

The more money you have, the 'harder' your money works for you and the more you reap.

It is really just like a game of Monopoly.

It is hard to believe the majority of people accept this situation - but they do :D

Truth is they have few alternatives.

I'd say that rich is when fuel prices, interest rates, Telkom and Eskom don't affect your lifestyle.
