If I am on the braai and you ask me to cook a well-done steak, I will hand over the tongs because I will not be party to the murder of a perfectly good piece of meat.

My FIL taught me this many years ago. I bought a pack of cherry cigars and he asked for one. I gave him one, and he threw it in the fire.

I was completely upset, and he replied "Why? You gave it to me to burn, so I burned it. It was mine, so I did with it what I wanted to. How I burned it should be of no consequence, because I enjoy it more as burned in the fire than smoked."

And that stuck. Now I don't really care how you eat your steak or drink your whisky or make your coffee. It's your choice. As long as you enjoy it, I'm happy for you.

This was what I got from an old Scotsman in a small Scottish pub in the highlands, he was about 80 and he said, I don't care how you drink you're whisky, as long as you drink it, take that as you like.
In a thick Scottish accent though, needed quite a bit of Whisky to understand him, so I took that as enjoy things the way you like it, who cares what others do.

Used to do steaks in the air-fryer a few years ago, when our oven popped, I thought let me give this a try. It can work out really well, so can lamb chops.
