hey guys (and gals)

How does one immigrate to the uk, especially now with the strict visas etc etc etc

I am currently studying to become a chartered accountant.

Already have good job prospects and training contract, but just want to know how (especially chartered accountants) mmanaged to emmigrate to the uk.

Thanx in advanced for replies

If you're registered as a CA(SA) then that's accredited at Masters level so you'd qualify for a Tier 1/Highly skilled visa as long as you met the other criteria e.g. age, income etc.

Two ways: work permit (Tier 2) and highly skilled (Tier 1).

Tier 2: A company sponsors you to work in the UK. You may only work for that company, if they fire you, you have something like 6 weeks to find someone else to sponsor you or you have to leave.

Tier 1: You can come over and work for whoever you want, more or less like any citizen. You can't claim any benefits though. Requires at the minimum a university degree and the ability to speak English. You also need to have a certain amount of experience and income, depending on your age.

After 5 years of continuous residence you can apply for permanent residence, after 1 more year you can apply for citizenship. This will change in the next year, where you'll instead have to do a minimum of 2 years temporary citizenship, and then can apply for citizenship.

See the points based system calculator to see if you qualify.

EDIT: Just noticed they now require a masters degree or higher for Tier 1.

Go over for a visit, while there go for job interviews. You will get companies that will sponsor you.

My boet (not a CA) got a couple of offers within a few days and he picked the best one.

Another question from me. (Im not very knowledgeable about these things ;) )

So I was born in the UK and lived there for about 10 years (no I will not adopt ;) ). I later moved over to CT and have been here for 8 years. Now is it possible for me to lose my citizenship/passport after a certain amount of time? I know it expired once but I renewed it about a year ago because I had to fly to London. Just wanna know because I plan to return back to that crap country

No you should still be a citizen.

Ok, then in that case is there any way to lose your South African citizenship? :p
