How Everyshop will take on Takealot

It seems they are more about selling and delivering large items. But do they charge more for this?

Ok, when I see this, I will run for the hills from this website. Side from the fact that you can get this TV for R41,999 from both Makro and Hirch's, how does this product have 3721 reviews?

Takealot built trust with its consumers.

You can't buy trust and you have previously few opportunities to get it right.

A website that makes sense, transparent and reliable delivery and no nonsense returns. All of that and a good price.

Then for me, product ranges in electronics that are not the 3rd world dumping ground models. Why can't one buy a good 4k 120hz display in South Africa. Why do I have to import it myself?

It is always nice to have more competition.

It just feels like majority of these new brands aren't doing much different or trying to change 'the norm' or revolutionize things.

Here is a marketing idea for you.

Take you marketing spend with your agency, cut it in half.

Take that money and provide all customers with free delivery for their first 10 orders.

With the money left over, employ people to fix your product listings and provide useful product videos and images. It's not difficult, even AliExpress sellers do a better job than most.

The site is also horrible to use, unless you know exactly what you want to search for.. good luck browsing for something in the same category

Everyshop marketing executive Stef Michael told MyBroadband they have a big focus on the overall online shopping experience.

“We provide our customers with a unique and curated personalised experience that is easy to use on mobile and desktop,” he said.

Really?

I know you have not even tried to use the website then... or you have repeated this waffle enough times you actually believe it.

"Unique and curated" ... rubbish website, and this means nothing coming from a marketing executive... paid to lie, the lipstick purveyor to pigs.

It's nice to have competition but Everyshop will have an uphill battle to compete with Takealot at the moment.

Only way that I will move from Takealot to Everyshop is when they have much better prices and great delivery times.

Everyshop need to focus on the things that matter to customers using an eCommerce platform.

They need to be well priced in comparison to their competition (TakeAlot, Makro (even though Makro aren't a huge player they could sort their shyte out and be one quite easily)). They need to be able to deliver quickly and also have decent after sales support and such.

Then focus on the usability aspects, which is an area that Takealot fall down on quite spectacularly in my opinion, their search is abysmal.

Once you have those fundamentals in place, then do the fancy frills like location based nonsense, and flyers and whatnot where you try leverage the brick and mortar footprint. Though, as an aside, it seems a bit strange to dilute the brand of something like Incredible Connection by shoehorning an EveryShop counter into the store... it would possibly make more sense for JD Group to have a white label type of eCommerce platform that all their brands share and they can then leverage the existing brand recognition rather than trying to build a new brand (just a my random thought)

Not sure why everyone on here seems to hate them so much. They've launched a month ago, Takealot has been around for years now. It's always good to see new players entering the market.

And when Stef Michael woke up, his coffee was cold and his crotch was sticky with his nocturnal emissions.......;)
