How Everyshop will take on Takealot

Everyshop is investing millions to become a significant ecommerce player in South Africa with its future plans including pick-up lockers and in-store terminals.

Everyshop, which is owned and operated by JD Group, officially launched on 1 April 2021.

Using its relationship with JD Group, Everyshop is offering South Africans products from over 500 international and local brands.

Despite these stories being pushed so often I have a feeling that Everyshop will not happen

If they can do proper overnight shipping they may do well in smaller towns

Takealots min 4 day shipping to NMB really sucks

Money can't buy excellent logistics, after sales and customer support. Nevermind a good website.

Takealot's is not perfect, but it works pretty damn well.

To give an example. I slept this afternoon after a night shift and missed my delivery. At 5 the delivery guy phone me again and asked if he can pass by tonight or if we can re schedule for tomorrow.

You also get an SMS saying you have missed your parcel and a link to reschedule a day that works for you.

Takealot is running a pretty tight ship that was not built over night.

JD Group is thinking they can buy themselves into the game because they have a monopoly of products. That can go south so fast.

And they are still stuck on physical stores. It is like running a race with weights tied to your legs.

Then of course they have 100s of fake ratings for the products, or partner ratings as they call it.

They already have the stores (incredible connection, hifi corp etc etc)

Takealot opened pick up locations around the country, it makes sense for people who cant be home for the courier
