How has your year been?

this was a good year

every year that goes by the more I realise I should have stopped working earlier, or not started to begin with

A good but rough year...

- bought a new bike
- had an accident with said bike
- bought a new car
- girlfriend and cat moved in
- resigned from the project I worked on the last two and a half years
- resigned from the company I worked for for the last seven years

Those are the ones that stand out

Good Parts

- Started running regularly and will have completed 35 5km Park Runs by the end of the year.
- Completed my first ever 10km race
- Grew in self-confidence somewhat
- Boss told me what I need to do to get promoted next year
- Made some new friends
- Took personal development more seriously
- Visited the USA twice this year (having previously not visited it at all).

Cons

- Still no GF in sight
- Still not on property ladder

Been a ridiculously mixed year for me.

I have had the happiest times in my life so far as well as the saddest.

This year for me has been the year where, if it can go wrong, it went wrong, car effed out 3 times costing a total of 10k.

Lost my gran to cancer as well as her daughter, my aunt only a couple months apart.

Thats the crappy parts, good parts are i have a loving family, my daughter just graduated from grade 1 with REALLY good marks, very happy about that! We got a puppy a couple days ago!

So its been a really up and down year for me, but this year was a year that made me a better person!

but in all honesty, i cannot wait for this year to be done and dusted.... had enough of it

I had a bad year. It started with my wife slipping and tearing her knee ligaments. Then in May a guy drove over a red robot straight into my wife's car. Putting her in hospital and writing off the car. I've had friends who got divorced this year and it was messy and I feel bad for them. I got sick this year. Every time when I start going to the gym I would get sick with the flu or with throat infections or whatever.

And now while lots of people are on holiday I have to work and have crazy deadlines and I'm tired.

So may 2017 be better!

Full year

Company got new shareholders
Son got married
Cousin died in the DRC
Wife wrote off her car
Lightening zapped my router / various items - twice
House flooded from underground leak
Went overseas twice
Had no water or electricity numerous times
Got money back from taxman
Didnt get an increase in salary

the same old same old as things go ................

For me it's been a tough year. There hasn't been much growth in terms of career - expected though as my primary project closed out a few weeks ago, so everything was winding down during the last few months.
Worked my ass off during that period though so didn't have terribly much free time available. It wasn't worth it, in short.

We found out that it's highly unlikely that we'll get pregnant without IVF or similar intervention.

On the plus side, I've become fitter, bought a (rather nice) new car, did some renovations to our house and I'm going on leave in a few days.
Furthermore, my wife made some serious movement in terms of her career growth.

My year was good.

Bought a house, went to Istanbul, work's great. Really don't have any complaints :)

Sjoe ..... sorry to hear that ..... I for one hope 2017 is better for you pal.

A fantastic year

Wife and i have a new baby girl:love:
I am the new Information Security Ops Manager at work :D

Pretty mixed all in all:

Some guys tried to steal my car (ripped out the dashboard in the process), got it fixed. Then a month later they succeeded in stealing the car. But now I've got an awesome new car (facelift Audi A3 TFSI sedan :D )

Met an awesome girl, dated for a few months, took her to London on holiday. Got dumped 10 days after we got back  less than ideal

Worked every weekend except 5 in the first 9 months of the year (lekker bonus though so the hard work was appreciated at least). Got 2 new people in my team starting in Jan. Also got some additional responsibilities at work which means 2 more people for my team and hopefully a nice increase at increase time.

Travelled to Vienna for the first time, brought back a vicious cold.

Been invited to speak at a couple of conferences so I get to travel on the company's dime.

Got back into cycling and lost some weight that I really needed to lose (my suits were getting too tight :o ).

Overall more good than bad but still not fantastic.
