*edit*

Disregard the fact that the instructions for installing TWRP refer to an earlier version, I was just using them as a basic template of what to do.

Now before we continue make sure the omni rom is on your SD CARD!! not internal, but SD CARD, with gapps.

Awesome, now don't worry, if fastboot didn't detect device correct then obviously it will not flash.
Now use the following commands:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

Make sure the twrp recovery.img is in the fastboot folder to enable flashing.

Well, it certainly sounds like you're the person to help here. :)

Okay, great. Getting omni rom on there.

Please pardon me, I've never ever used an Android device before, this is all totally new to me.

Its fine man.

Copy the omni and the gapps onto your sd card, then follow the steps again to get to your bootloader from adb.
now type adb reboot bootloader
then type fastboot devices once the phone has rebooted
If the device is identified as ????? whatever thats fine it will flash.

fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
(this command will flash the twrp onto your phone)

While I am downloading gapps, can I get clear on how exactly this:

Must go on the SD card?

Jip thats the firmware. Must be on your sdcard, can be anywhere with the gapps zip also.
Dont have to be in any folder just root sdcard is quicker. As long as its not on internal storage since there has been problems with twrp 2.7 reading internal.

Fransh, thanks so much for your help.

I managed to muddle my way through the rest of the process, and I am busy booting into omni rom as we speak.

Busy setting it up now.
