Hi guys

With Seacom going live, have your connections improved? I'm hoping so, so I can finally get rid of my iBurst modem :)

/waits patiently for responses on this thread
I need to re-activate my internet... so, I'm coin tossing between Telkom and Neotel.

I doubt you'll see any miracles on Telkom's side anytime soon! Neotel has a better chance as they don't screw your ISP with IP Connect, they don't require 3rd party ISP's as they are the ISP and there's no line or DSL subscription.

I'm patiently waiting for their top of the range uncapped package to come down in price!

ushir and undefined in Sandton joburg both getting 2.4meg +. Im running a speed test now...

Sigh, Im only getting 30kB/s :(

yeah I am wondering as well - please let us know guys. if neotel can bump up speeds definitely going with them

Neotel Pricing

I've also been waiting for Seacom to come online to see if prices will drop before I subscribe to a broadband contract.

Awaiting a press release from Neotel now...

Agree with you on IP Connect and the DSL subscription. Disagree with you on the 3rd party ISPs. In my opinion some of the most innovative solutions are coming from the smaller ADSL ISPs. I would love to be able to use them on Neotel...

Yes, sure, some ISP's do offer fantastic value, but you still don't get away from the fact that they also get charged by Telkom for IP Connect, you're still liable for the DSL and Line rental - so no matter what good value you get from your ISP, you're still being screwed by Telkom's charges!

None of those issues with Neotel - just that they're getting oversubscribed but I'm sure from recent articles they are trying to remedy the situation.

24 month contract = 24 month fixed price. Perhaps they might now provide the services and speeds advertised...

Well, if they going to lock me into the price i'm paying now because of my 24month contract, its no biggie. As soon as they provide something like fast uncapped with that router they are punting, i'll downgrade my current neotel phone to just a phone, and take the better package.

Well, this morning i was pretty peeved as I was only getting 30kB/s. NOW Im not even getting 10kB/s. This is retarded, now its even slower than it was in the time it "wasn't working". WTF!?

Only went online a few hours ago?

Yes, and electrons travel pretty quickly... Seacom has been tested and it works - why shouldn't existing subscribers see an improvement? Unless there's tower congestion of course.
