How long did it take u ?

Also you have to love the fact that you are told that you cannot cancel the installation when placing the order by phone, even if it takes longer than the scheduled date. Coke blew threw my nose when I started laughing at the operator. *** bless those funny bastards...

Ordered 4th June

Telkom Promised 22nd June.
22nd June Installed as Promised.

18 days too long, but at least they installed when they said they would. I took a day off work to make sure everything worked which it did.

I applied for ISDN in 2002, installation was 2 happen 2 weeks after order... I am still waiting. I live in Dainfern, Jhb.

i applied on 8th May 2005 for my ADSL... I am still waiting, i call them almost every day and i get something different from every techie i speak to. I get told to phone Durban, they tell me the techies are idiots. Took me 6 weeks just to get told that the exchange is full... This is a week after a port project had been completed on my exchange. I have been told the next port project will be completed by 30 June 2005 and i can then get an installation date.

I was told on the 30th May 2005 that a port had been allocated to me and that my order had been escalated. 3 days later i call back to find out that there was no port allocated and that my order had not been sent to be escalated.

I speak to the technicians and they say they will call me, I have not received a single call from anyone from telkom to let me know what is happening with my ADSL installation... Even after a guy tells me he will give me a call in an hours time.

I honestly think that Telkom should not wait for the SNO to come into operation before providing service(as there is none atm). They are going to lose customers. I will move to the SNO even if they charge double or triple what Telkom is charging because i can not stand a service being advertised and then having to put all the effort in to get some action on my order for the service.

I really hope a good percentage of Telkom's customers go over to the SNO, if not just to prove a point.

ermmmmmmm Telkom deliver.......

Guys you wont believe this but i am actually going to compliment Telkom on OUTSTANDING CUSTOMER SERVICE.
I am moving (very short notice and very urgently) to a new house this coming Friday. I went in to telkom this morning and asked (with clenched teeth) when my ADSL line and phones could be moved expecting a 6 to 8 week wait. The lady in the office asked when i needed it done and i said friday and she asked why and I told her. Right in front of me she called the technicians and relayed the story. She hmm'd haa'ed and then said thanks and hung up...I was bracing myself.
"Saturday morning okay for you?" she says.
I had to pick myself up off the floor.
"The guys are going to work overtime anyway and so will fit you in before hours - they will be at your house at 7am."
Telkom THANK YOU. What a bunch of stars we have in Ballito.

I originally ordered beginning of April but my order was lost. Then I re ordered beginning of May. I started calling them repeatedly only to be told about 2 weeks later the now legendary Dslam ports excuse. I have since tried all angles to get adsl installed but none seem to work, last I heard I will only get adsl end of July 2005. So that means December 2047 at the earliest. As a last ditch effort I tried the email route mailing all telkom addresses I could find but instead I got the nice postfix message stating that the user has overdrawn his disk quota. Ai jai jai.

Seems to depend on what area ur in. I am on the FAR Westrand in good old Krugersdorp. My installation took place exactly 2 weeks from when I ordered. There was a small hitch with the initial line testing though, my phoneline was off for three days - I am a very positive person, thought I'll throw that in so you guys don't feel bad ;-) BTW, the techy came a day EARLIER and I had to rush to get my modem.

I am in the middle of Pretoria East where basically all the most advanced internet connections are live, even WiMax soon, there are literally thousands of people waiting for adsl here so they really should start getting their act together. What I wouldnt give to have received my adsl in two weeks from ordering, but looks like only other peoples dreams come true.

Also I live about a km from an Iburst base station, but unfortunately I live in a valley, so no luck there. No Sentech here and I dont want 3g(also about no signal). So basically I am stuck with my 21.2 kb dialup amd 9.6 kb gprs. All this in the year 2005. Thank you telkom, thank you. I supppose I could always move to accomodate Telkom? Or have my adsl installed in Krugers and then install a long ethernet connection with a repeater every 50 meters. That might just work, yes, install your adsl in the neighbouring town and bring the connection to you.

Luckily after 3 months most of the initial anticipation after ordering goes away and you just accept your fate.

0800 456 786 thats the Special Services number where you "escalate"* your order at and also get told that there is no more dslam ports, or you can call 0800 237500, for adsl services etc, but they just put you through to the first number where no one ever answers except every second Thursday if there is a new moon. I have to realise that it doesnt matter who you call you always end up at the same place anyway with that too looo tooo dooo dooo music.

* escalate - to give false hope.

My Status : Ordered homedsl 192 3 months ago : eta one more month. Have this http://www.lgnetwork.com/lgnetwork/products/view.jsp?prdt_seq=51 which is of no use till my adsl pops up.

AARRRRRRRGHHHHHHHHHH! They just called me, they actually got back to me, and told me that not only is there no dslam ports, put also that the other board thingy in the exchange is to old for adsl, so the exchange does not support adsl, why o why could they not have told me this 3 months ago!!!!!!! They are busy with a pilot project in my area to see if adsl works on the older system, which will take a few months. So my earlier estimate of 2047 is looking rather likely now.

It took 2 weeks. DID u have to sign a contract cause i never signed anything

I am waiting for the 1aug price cuts to sign up. But after reading this i think i should order right now! When will you first be charged? after the service is installed and fully working I supose so odering it now should improve my time to wait or I hope it should!

Does any one think this is a good idea or not, should i order now or wait for august!?
