The latest regarding data bundle expiry according to MTN's website is seen here:. I hope that is current cause I've dug up many old pages on MTN's terrible website before.

Now, specifically I want to confirm the following:
5.1. Once-off Bundles expire 2 (two) calendar months after the Subscriber activates it.
5.2. In the event that the Subscriber purchases and activates an additional Anytime once-off bundle, irrespective of denomination, the expiry date of all previously loaded and unexpired once-off Anytime bundles will move to the expiry date of the last loaded once-off bundle.

Question: If I buy a once off bundle today 23 November, then the expiry date of that bundle is 23 January 2014?

Another question, assuming my previous assumption is correct:
If I buy a 2 GB once off data bundle today 23 November, and I use only 1 GByte by 22 January 2014, then if I buy a 10 MB bundle on 22 January 2014 I have another 60 days to use the remaining 1 GByte of my previous bundle i.e. 1 GByte would only expire on 22 March 2014?

This is then way to "subscribe" to a rate of about 20c/MB with MTN. You just have to remember to buy a 10 MB bundle every 60 days to keep the 2 GB bundle active.
Sidenote: It would seem the same rules apply to sms bundles.

I would like to confirm this and it is indeed working correctly... I had 1.25GB of data expiring 13 January 2014. I quickly loaded a 20mb bundle for R10 and got 10mb free with the promotion expiring in 2 days and my bought data expiry date moved on 2 months to 13 March 2014.

Very nice cause unused data can actually be extended by just buying a once off R10 bundle every 60 days. Pretty decent actually.

Brilliant.
Interesting, I didn't know this, I got a SMS100 bundle and immediately received an sms saying the expiry date is 90 days from now. Hope they're planning the same with data bundles!

Confirmed this "bundle expiry date extension trick" now myself. My 500 MB bundle was to expire yesterday. Bought a 10 MB bundle a few days ago. Now *141*1# -> "internet" shows I have 351 MB expiring on the 8th of May. Yay!

Yeah MTN really rock with this. They group it under "Bough Data" which can be extended like that. Very cool. Made a investment and bought a 2GB bundle. I still have it since December 2013

So do you also keep the 0.19c OOB rate by extending the bundle like that?

That I am not sure about I would have to do some testing or try and find it in the T&C's but for now I don't know.
