Hi guys ..

At what speed does 1mb sync ?

Coz i phoned for upgrade this afternoon to be upgraded to 1mb from 512.

Was told my exchange may not support it, and they would send sum1 to check within 7 days ...

Got home and its synced at 1152 down 384 up ???

Have i been upgraded ?? Still downloading at 512 speeds though :<

I upgraded from 384kbps to 512kbps today, need the upload speed since the reduction in upload speed on the 384 line, how long should this take?

Should I just instantly get a speed increase or do I need to reset the router as soon as they have done it. What is exactly done? Software controller or someone that goes to exchange?

they may have put him on the 4mbit trial but the highest sync available for his line could just be 1mbit...

does that depend on how far you are from the exchange? how can you find out how far you are from the exchange?

Hi

I upgraded coz i could use some extra speed for like R30 more than i was paying 2 month ago.

Being upgraded to 4mbit would obviously be a nice bonus ...

Might still happen...

And hansa has a good question ... How can u find out how far u are from ur exchange ?? Because based on my line att, SNR ratio, i would guess im pretty much at the max range :/

Then I dunno why I'm synched at 4096, maybe people who were on the 1mb package before the 1st, I just made it in that case.

you guys have got me seriously worried now, i ordered my upgrade to 1024 on friday, i will be seriously pissed if they dont upgrade me to 4mbit. They said the trial will be fully implemented by 15th, so i would be in the trial... got a feeling i might have to go head bashing @ the local telkom office

lol....dont worry ziglet....

i just got this email from telkom:

"Good day
If you apply for an upgrade to ADSL 1024kbps then you will automatically be upgraded to 4096kbps.
This is a trial test that Telkom is running to see how the 4096kbps is working but you will only pay the rental of the 1024kbps line.
In your area the 4096kbps is ready meaning Telkom will upgrade you automatically.

Thanks
Gail"

so it seems that the person i spoke to at first was incompetent....

Seems to me the upgrade is even for "new"comers and upgraders from the comments here?? Some missinformation then? How long does an Upgrade take? They claim 30 days??? and will cost R154.00/m extra?? and to downgrade again will be R295.20 penalty

They say 30 days, but apparently they normally get it done in 1 or 2.

Is it just me or does browsing in general seem to be a bit buggered today?

Ziglet, the port for your current ADSL and the port for the 1024/4096 are different. They have to unplug the wire from the one and plug it into the other from what I understand.
