So Vumatel has started digging in my area. Those that have gone through it, how long does it take from here?

I'd estimate 2-3 months. There may be delays due to incorrect municipal wayleaves and other unforseen hiccups. But Vumatel's teams make an effort to do things properly and tidy up again.

Yippee!

Hey man! I live in a complex just behind the President Fouche Engen garage.... been keeping my eye on those trench diggers for days now.
In case you didn't know, I see the coverage map on Vumatel's website has been update with pre-orders for that area...
Can't wait!!

Just be aware, that complexes normally happen a bit later than houses, as there is additional red tape to work through

Yeah, I'm hoping there's something I can do to help speed up the process.
For now, I might use our notification board in the complex to at least get as many people to sign up as possible.
Might also contact the Property Managemers (RenProp) and the Body Corporate so they can contact Vumatel and get the process happening etc...or something, I dunno, but THIS MUST HAPPEN.

What you need is for as many people as possible (preferably all the owners) to attend your AGM, and to say yes, they allow VUMA to put fibre in. if that vote was passed, then it should speed up the process.

Yes, two to three months if all goes well.

Vumatel started working in my suburb the first week of June and finished microtrenching and laying conduit within six weeks. But they have yet to complete all the drilling under the streets and they haven't begun pushing fiber through the conduit. Another six weeks if I'm lucky, but I reckon it'll take longer as I've not observed any activity for the past two weeks.

So. What needs to happen now, is that your body corporate needs to contact Vumatel to get a surveyor into your complex, this surveyor will then draw up plans, and deliver that to the body corporate - no work done in your complex until this point.

Only once the plans has been approved, do they start digging up the pavement etc within your complex.

I have done a lot more research since I posted this, and will be able to help you out with contact details for the people @ vumatel if you're interested. I'm trying my best to get our complex BC to pull finger.. Just up the road from you :)

Man, these guys from Vumatel are mooooving.... got home last night to find the entire side of the street cordoned off with those droppers and yellow/orange screens they use.
When I left home this morning they've already started trenching 1/3rd of the way down...
Awesome!
