How many MXit users are there really?

You are correct. I think that is what's causing the problem as I tried to explain. The client uses a different protocol which has to be converted when talking to other jabber servers and this probably causes some trouble for the developers.

Essentially yes. I can understand the reasoning. It reduces the data requirements by 50% already and you don't need the extra characters on a cell. I would like more info myself but the it's rather sketchy. Several threads showing up on google were actually removed when I searched for it, seems they want to keep it secret and a cell only app. Will see what I can find later though.
