How much do you know about Information Technology?

That's just a basic pseudo code algorithm they ask in the theory paper, it's meant for students who can't program & will do bad in the practical exam The rumor is those students become project managers :D

Sounds about right :D or become teachers :P

Switch = Communication between devices.
Router = Communication between networks(switches)

Switch aka switching hub.

Is the English essay article next week?

Sort of.. its more about the OSI Model (well applies to Internet Protocol layering too albeit they merge layers).. basically devices have different layer in which they operate..
ie..
  1. HUB (dumb device) - Works on L1 - Physical only, basically broadcasts data received to everyone and the device connected decides if its for them or not.
  2. Switch( L2 Traditional) - Works on L2 - DataLink layer, thus can discern between devices based on MAC and switch traffic to correct port ;)
  3. Switch (L2 & L3 Modern/MultiLayer/MultiFunctional) - Works on L2 & L3 - Network Layer, thus can discern between devices based on MAC & IP/Addressing. Typically useful for routing traffic between virtual local networks based on address, 1st to destination switch which then that swsitch does the L2 switching. Basically a combinational device consisting of Switch & Router though not sure on use cases other than combo products we use dally hehe tho i suspect where its not home devices its for larger networks with vlans so technically still working as a switch sort of
  4. Router (L3) - Works on L3, routes traffic appropriate network/gateway based on addresses(ip, not urn/rul) provided.

Damn i miss telecoms :'(

90 percent, like many here that switch one got me. But then again I'm not in IT anyway so meh... I'll use a switch and it'll work regardless of poor question wording or specifics.

I got 9/10. I missed the web question, which I would have got wrong anyway I think because I would select the Facebook alternative as being wrong because I think they at sh##t and therefore can't be dynamic :)
