What are you paying per Kw/h for electricity? Let’s get an idea of the range of prices charged by Eskom/Municipalities/Body Corps etc etc, and what people are paying in different parts of the country.

Not sure. I'm renting and not on prepaid. However I recently noticed that the lowest my bill has ever been is about R550pm. This is when I travelled and was away for several months. With the geyser switched off so the only appliances plugged in during my time away was the fridge and microwave. Must be a lot of fixed costs (I'm in Morningside Sandton).

My bill in a normal month when I'm at home is about R950.

According to my latest statement 530 units cost me R1613 ex vat in NMBM.

Around R3.50 ish per Unit here in DBN.

Most of my neighbours don't pay for using their geyser/stove by some electrician's trickery.

Eskom direct homepower standard @ R2.6878 kWh excl. vat.

In Apr of this year the billing structure changed drastically to be less focused on consumption with more built-in fees.

Another FU to the people with solar.

and to the people without solar. Didn't their rate still go up 40%?

Since 2017 my bill has gone up from about R500pm to R950pm. 8 years of increases. Staying in same place with usage not changing much. No solar. So that's about 8.3% per year.

When will we see that? My last bill from a few days ago was R950.
Oh, I think Eskom direct has already had increase, other munis is 1 July. I assume you're pay-as-you-go? I think its the post paid guys getting hit with extra lines on their bill equalling 40% more iirc.

Paying prepaid R1500 twice a month getting 402kw/h about R4 per unit......

I must say now that I live in a free standing home with one of those old open meters it's not too bad. They just charge the tariff as displayed here they aren't adding any network charges.

With prepaid there are service charges and fees if buying from 3rd parties.

With the open meter I just do the meter reading each month. Load it on the portal and that is it.

Im hoping that Tshwane doesn't follow suit as Joburg did by adding service charges / network charges to the rates - its only a matter of time
