They are already doing that for sanitation and water network fees. My water network fee is higher than my actual water usage. If they do it with electricity I'm going to get angry because things are already expensive we don't nee more fees. No wonder people bridge their meters and steal electricity.

With prepaid there are service charges and fees if buying from 3rd parties.

With the open meter I just do the meter reading each month. Load it on the portal and that is it.

Same here in durban except we have flat rate.

Generation Capacity Charge @ R0.72 per day for 32 days
Ancillary Service Charge 902 kWh @ R0.0041 /kWh :
Network Demand Charge 902 kWh @ R0.2637 /kWh :
Energy Charge 902 kWh @ R2.6878 /kWh :
 
In a new estate in Stellenbosch, paying a daily rate of R15.81, plus R2.27 per kWh. In the last month averaging 13 units per day, so I suppose that's R3.48 per unit assuming 13 units per day.

The estate runs generators if there is load shedding and eventually once the solar and battery setup is complete then the generators won't be necessary any longer. I'm not sure if this is all funded via what we pay for via the prepaid meter or whether it's via HOA and levies charged.
 
Saldanha Bay Mun. R2.37337 per unit for the first 350 units per month. Then R3.302915 per unit above that per month.

Looks like we have it cheaper than most.

No wonder we use less than R200 worth of electricity per month in summer with the help of solar geyser and solar system supplying all but the major appliances and aircons. Winter, rain time is a different story with dryers, aircons and heaters and geyser drawing up to R1000 worth per month. Even that seems low compared to others' bills.

So it doesn't matter anymore if I load a larger number of units during the first week?
 
I'm something like R3.15 per unit at this point. Direct Eskom prepaid.

Solar looking very price competitive at this point.
