So it doesn't matter anymore if I load a larger number of units during the first week?

Not sure how the prepaid structure works. Would be keen to see if/when you can share.

Normally they reset the purchase stats at the beginning of each month - so it doesn't matter how you spread it out through the month.

Thats how it works in Tshwane - you level up the rate table as you buy more

Sheesh. Prepaid?

I'd be interested to see your fees etc.
Yup. I guess you could drop the 10% service fee, which makes it R 3.89 / kwh, but it's still a cost involved so I include it. It's always 10% and doesn't matter where it's bough. Buying R 300 from an Engen has a R 30 service charge, buying R 1,000 from PnP has a R 100 service charge, buying R 500 from FNB has a R 50 service charge, etc.

I wish I knew, I'm on prepaid and this sliding scale nonsense makes it hard to figure out.

I kinda wish we had a sliding scale, assuming it doesn't start at the price we currently pay. It's that price for the first and 800th kwh purchased for the month (average consumption is around 850 kwh/month).

Eskom Direct

R3.80/kWh postpaid. Includes Network & Service charges, and 15% VAT. CoJ, Step 1.

It quickly goes beyond R4/kWh if one uses more than 1400kWh/month and one goes into Step 2 and 3, plus the added Network Surcharges.

I pay R5.22 per unit of electricity (prepaid). Living in a complex (block of apartments) in Table View, Cape Town. The gag is, the electricity is Eskom Direct and not CoCT. I have not investigated why the price is so high, I assume it might be that the Vendor selling the electricity is also adding their markup to the price. I also do not know if there are laws around this (3rd party selling of electricity).

Will shop around for an old apartment to rent in Cape Town somewhere closest to the lease expiry date.

R3.20 for me (USA).
You are so lucky!! Can we switch places  . Your boy is going through the most at the moment.

R5.22 (per unit) for me in Table View, Cape Town. We find ourselves in a situation where we have to choose between wine or keeping the lights on :X3:. Spent around R1,200 on electricity last month. The gag is, I live on my own. My mistake was using the electric heater.

R2.45 /kWh

Is the rate I'm paying 0-600kWh on Eskom Direct (Homepower Standard). This excludes the daily netwokr fee of R10.52 which is quite heavy.

Hectic price gouging..... Have you tried finding out why it is that high? It's over 100% more than others
