So - the housekeeper comes back from shopping, I go out & help her bring stuff in from the car.
We are in the kitchen talking while she is packing the groceries.
Amongst the stuff is 2 x 2.5 kg of white sugar & 1kg of brown sugar.

I ask her is she is preparing for uhuru or something with all the sugar.
She laughs , and laughs, "it's you" she says still chuckling.

I came to the conclusion, that between breakfast cereal everyday, coffee etc, I am going through the better part of 2kg of sugar per month on my own - which sounds mildly alarming, but works out to be 24kg a year - and that is without all the other foods that contain sugar.

So now with rather long teeth, I am sipping away at my 1st cup of coffee without sugar - and its crap !

I used to drink 8 cups of coffee a day.
2 sugars and milk.
So on average 16 spoons of sugar.

I now drink a cup of coffee in the morning, a cup of tea at 10 and a cup of coffee after dinner.
Much better.

Shame man, feel your pain. Im fighting a serious coca cola addiction :D

Two sugar in two cups of coffee and 1 cup of tea for 5 days. So I drink 6 teaspoons a day. I'm in the process of starting to take only one per day.

I must say I got off the sugar train just over a month ago and I can say that only now does coffee start to taste funny WITH sugar instead of without it.

My larger problem was rather Coke consumption instead of coffee which I've been having with only one sugar for quite a while now.

I couldn't switch to Coke Zero or Coke Lite because both tasted like rubbish, so the next best thing was Sprite Zero which tastes mostly like the original but with extra water added.

So once I got off the Coke train it was much easier to let go of sugar in my coffee. Also changing up the quality of your coffee makes all the difference. Most instant coffees NEED sugar to be even remotely decent, so switching to Nescafe Gold or Arabica helped in that department.

Of course if you can afford a Nespresso or other proper coffee machine that also helps.

I drink at least 2 cups of Coffee per day (use Jacobs Coffee). I think in a month I buy the small one (I think 1kg one or so). I have cut out all soda drinks, been soda free for a week now (I just drink Mountain Spring Water).

Yoh I couldn't deal with Coffee that's sugarless. Um, is using Sweetners (those sticks) any better than using Brown Sugar?

Trust me, your taste buds change. Coffee starts to taste really good without sugar or honey. It takes a few weeks after giving up though for your taste buds to adapt

if you have some time and bandwidth to spare...

Haven't had sugar in my house...ever. Don't need it for anything - I suppose I should organize some for guests.

I do eat a couple of chocolates a week though.
