How much time do you spend with your SO?

Honestly, we spend every moment that we can spend in each other's company. Not saying it's normal or abnormal, it's just how we are. Even if I'm doing a solo thing like playing on the PC she'll be in the background on the iPad or looking after the baby or something.

Same with us.

If I am playing games on the PC she will sit with me in the room reading or playing games on her tab.

We also both enjoy reading which is great. Because I have seen in some relationships that only the woman enjoys reading and the n the guy gets pissed off.

that'd be you then? Why? I always so get the movie - it is quicker and easier than the book and it can be shared.

Well, during the week I come home and hop in front of the TV. If it happens that she wants to watch something with me then sure.

Weekends...we usually go out

As much time as we can. Watch TV together, read together, game together etc. I have a boy's night during the week, and on weekends we see friends and family (about 75% of the time together, the rest on our own) or go away.

She doesn't mind when I go on solo hiking camping trips (she comes with more often than not when we go as a group) and I don't mind her spending a weekend with the girls.

So tons of time together, and a small amount apart. It's what works for us.

Some posters seem to have missed the qualifier "when you don't live together". Obviously living together changes the dynamics...

Do you spend as much time as possible with the person if you are not living together or do you still do your own things and occassionally see him/her?

I feel like i'm the guy in the relationship. I like doing my own thing and dont need to see him 24/7 but he gets sulky when I have other things i want to do! Is this normal? Or am i just too independent?
That bolded part...sounds like your relationship will end not too far in the future, you will be the one ending it. Your BF needs to learn how to be himself without you, and how to be less needy, ect.

So the real question you are asking here is, why are you still with this guy? Because I can tell you now, it is not the time you spend with him that is the problem.

Example my gf still stays with her parents, I stay in my own place. We been together 6 and a half months now. We literally spend as much time as we can together, but also time apart.
Mondays - Didn't see each other, holidays changed that, she was over the whole evening.
Tuesdays - Usually Salsa dance night (class) and then she come over
Wednesdays - She has ballroom/latin dance class, dont see her, holidays I saw her every wednesday
Thursdays - She is over we do stuff
Fridays - we go out together, sometimes she stay over
Saturdays - braai ect, but she is over at my place
Sundays - Usually go Salsa dancing at Buena Vista for fun and eat, she still end the night over at my place

So mostly we see each other almost every single day during the holiday season even though we both working. She usually ask if she can come over to my place, I never ask her, either she come or she doesn't, as long as she let me know beforehand I am happy either way. If she doesn't, I am too happy because I can play games, go out with buddies, or work around the house or just do whatever I want, I like alone time too. When she is over, I like it too, usually do something we can do together, watching movies, watching same series, cook, walks on the beach, whatever.

She does shopping on her own, she knows I absolutely hate shopping so she doesn't even ask.

So to end it off, girl feels like guy, girl leaves guy, go look for another guy that makes her feel like a woman. Or you will meet a guy that make you feel like a woman, and you will cheat on your current guy.

I hope he reads this forum, and realize he needs to sort out his confidence or inevitably lose you.

I spend about 3 nights a week with the S.O, 2 nights a week drinking beer with the boys, and 2 nights a week by myself. A healthy balance I think.

More interesting question. Married MyBB members. How much would you want to spend with your SO?
Worked with a married couple who shared an office and carpooled together.
I once asked them the secret to their relationship. He said it was going to the gym every night for some alone time.
She said it was adultery. I'm still not sure if she was joking.

She was having a service while he was working out :D

Weekdays I only see him when some of my needs are raving high. Otherwise I prefer to sleep early and undisturbed. Then only see him on Friday and try to go back to my place by 11 am on Saturday to run errands. I might go back to his place Saturday night if I don’t have any other plans. And if it does happen that I see him Saturday night then I won’t see him Sunday night. I love my space, enjoy my own company. And we are both okay with that…I think

You don't have a SO. You have a stress reliever :erm:

Why do you imagine that? The relationship doesn't suddenly just change its whole dynamic because you share a sink.

I'd think that living together means you will see each other almost daily. Not sharing a sink means an effort is made for the company of the other. Your place or mine. So time spent with someone you live with will be more, even if it is only sleeping.

I must say, if I lived with GF then I would still have the same rules above though. So I suppose the "excluded" view is also valid.

Living together generally means spending more time with each other by default.

We meet up for a few days, a couple of times a month. Sometimes more or less, of course.

Yes but it doesn't really change how you relate to each other. That's a kind of a compatibility syncopation that's unique to every individual and couple. It has to do with whether you want to sleep touching or apart, watch TV or go hiking, alphabetize cupboards or leave things on a disarray on the floor, be cloyingly inseparable or touchdown once a week, fight or withdraw, and so on. Fundamentally it's the basis of the longevity of a couple.

Almost all the time, even during the day regularly communicate via Google Hangouts, basically only apart when driving to work and back.
