How often do you get stopped at roadblocks?

All good, in theory.

And if they don't do this - there not a whole hell of lot a road user can do.

Aside from maybe being shot / arrested...
 
They've been having regular traffic stops just on the outskirts of PE and I get pulled over probably 50% of the time there.
 
5 times in 6 years. Normally they just check the car disc and my licence, maybe have a look around the car and check tyres and windscreen.

The most thorough check was when I was on a driving lesson with a driving school. They were much more interested in the instructor's paper work though.
 
I've been stopped twice in the last year. Once in an everyday car and once in a very loud Subaru... Was never stopped in the Alfa and neither in the more luxury German cars...
 
dont know, it all seems random, only been stopped once before, and I think it was just a mistake, just checked licence and DL, and told me to go,

have anybody been stopped for taillights out? thread wear? battery mounting?

anything like that before?

Got pulled over frequently in my S2000.

Haven't been pulled over in my (boring) Subaru yet.

Verdict (based on my anecdotal evidence) - Drive boring/inexpensive looking cars if you don't want to be pulled over.

Same here, only once in 4 years of ownership- and once now in my Rexton, which I've had for less than a year. Three times on my GSX-R (5 years ownership, going on 6).

Ja, it may not stop you from being arrested, but it will stand up in court.
Personally, as I said before, I just don't stop for them.
I just keep driving merrily on my way acting like I didn't notice.
They have never chased after me, not even once.
Now if an officer were to actually do all of that as I listed, I would definitely stop.

About 8 times the past 7 years. Once got pulled over twice one one day within a 2km distace. Very random as well. More like they were looking for someone. Only got asked once to test lights.
 
I do not encounter many roadblocks but I'm stopped at every one.
 
They see my car and know there is no way I can possibly pay a bribe.
 
Often got stopped when in the Chrysler, perhaps looking for bribes, but my honest face would tell them don't go there.
Been stopped 2 x in my D/Cab mainly to check if my spots are correctly wired in with my brights/dims of the bakkie.
Always polite, friendly and courteous in my response and never had issues.
 
Got stopped once during one of the long weekends. They were checking for drunk drivers.
 
I was stopped once about 6 years ago coming back from Balito somewhere around the Gauteng border. They were doing a roadworthy check, the first and last time.
