How often do you get stopped at roadblocks?

If I ever get stopped (50/50) they just look at my drivers license briefly and disk and send me on my way...
Jup. Most part they just look at my license and then they look at my disk and send me. Only once before have I gone over the lights and stuff.

Young black man in a VW Chico, of course I'm getting stopped. A couple of times, the police on patrol actually swung around just to pull me over. Wasn't doing anything suspicious, just driving while black I guess.

Is that really a thing in South Africa today? I'd have thought that the cops (who in my experience are predominantly black themselves) wouldn't be targeting blacks.

I went through a camera road block the other day (i know i have quite a number of fines on paycity) and they didn't pull me over...it was in jhb so they would be able to pick up anything on my plate...just drove through - so not sure if all the fines on paycity are actually valid or how it works?

Same thing happened the other day to me, went though a "super" roadblock didn't get stopped, I guess I should start carrying drugs as I NEVER get stopped, its so weird!

Wonder if I drove a monza what would happen?

Hehehehe, reminds me of my Velociti days. We once got stopped, ordered to get out and lie on the flipping Road while they searched the car.

That is so skelm of the cops. What if they decide to plant drugs somewhere and start accusing you of it later? In other words you need to watch them.

Gotten through every one even where they are pulling every car over, just get waived through like wtf
Same experience. I didn't notice at the time, but the one time I did actually have a glass of wine beforehand and I was pretty shooked when I realised I just lied to an officer when I said I hadn't been drinking.

The fact that I have a dealer-placed vinyl on my car's bonnet means I attract a lot of attention. Every single road block I've gone through in the past 2 years I have been stopped. (~6 road blocks)

I think the rationale is, has vinyl, has mods, goes fast, has tickets.

In Cape Town around hospital bend, there are very frequent road blocks but mainly for taxis who cut in on the solid line. They always have a guy on that flyover bridge with a camera that would show who cuts in on the solid lines...90% of the time it is taxis

So interesting thing happened today,
Off modderfontein road, cop pulls me over for looking at my phone,
Not talking on it, just glancing quickly at it.
Pulls me over, says illegal to talk on the phone, ask for my licence, and does his thing getting down my details.
Says R500 fine wtf.....

Gets to the end where he starts to ask me po box and residential address and then says, you will get 1point off your licence.

Says to me then, how much do you got right now?
I say R100, takes it and tells me don't do it again.

My question is, can he still impose a fine after he almost finished filling in his book?
And is this how easy it is to bribe a cop? They themselves go asking for it?

Yes they are asking for it and will delay you till you offer one. Don't ever pay the bribe, rather go to court.

Well lesson learned, always thought you had to say "spot fine" in order for you to be able to pay the fine.
Didn't expect the cop to pretty much beg and ask for it.
