When I was searching for controller planned obselessence (because I noticed that they seem to wear out much more now than they used to in the past) I noticed some people literally buying the stuff in bulk because they wear them out so often with "competitive" gaming. This got me wondering.

I'm not a big gamer, typically only play over weekends so my wear and tear should be low. An Xbox controller will last me many years and will only replace when it breaks.

My Switch Joycons I replaced probably after 3 years though I did buy it second hand so can't confirm previous usage.

Mine breaks within a year or two because I buy the cheap R200-300 ones lol. I need a new one yet again.

My last keyboard lasted years, I think I eventually spilt something into it. Usually my mice do too, I think when the rechargable battery packs up I replace them.

Are there any better than other brands in this price class?
I've only seen generic made in China no-name crap.

I should probably stop being such a cheapskate and get something that will last or that was made for fighting games. The last two broke while playing Street Fighter and King of Fighters. They can't handle the violent button mashing.

Then you get them 'merican okes that buy every colour and edition to display them in a glass case. With no plan to even use them.

Still using my Steelseries Merc Stealth from 2004. Can't find a suitable replacement.

When it breaks (never happend in many generations of owning a console). When the console itself goes titsup and I get a new generation. In the bin it goes for the bergies to take to cash converters.

Once every 10 years or so, I had a thrustmaster 430 for the longest time, absolutely adored it, then I threw it away during a move

Just have the receiver now, brings up memories every time I dig in my tool box

I game a lot and never have to replace controllers. I've got an XBox One one for my pc that has lasted many years now. Then my Series X and PS5 controllers came with the consoles and they are also fine.

But I have to replace my mouse often. Probably every two years. Don't know why but they just keep breaking. Have tried different makes too.

Some people break a lot of keyboards but they mostly last forever for many people. Mice on the other hand always end up wearing out no matter what you do.

Most games I use kB&mouse so not needed to replace the controller in 8 years. Only use the controller for sports, platforming & fighting games.
