How ShowMax decided on R99

That's a bummer man. I've been buying ShowMax R99 Voucher jobbies since Jan & every single time it worked perfect. Every time I bought them at my PnP I just made sure the slip said Activated which it did in every instance.

Well, got 7 days free, while they investigate. Have this Cloudgate Circle android box, didn't want to work on it in the past, after the Cloudgate upgrade, it's working fine. I see some of the older stuff have that block thing you guys are speaking of (or maybe more like a diagonal letter box).
Wife is watching a new series, call "Die Byl", nogal Showmax original. This series is full screen and looks HD.

On a big screen tv, its pretty much a small block.

I've got the MXQ android tv box and I've never seen any series displaying in "letterbox" on Showmax. I think I know what you mean though, some old BBC youtube clips (WILTY etc) default to it.

Interesting, because as i said before, it was the newer things that came up in letterbox. I tried to change the tv's Aspect ratio and zoomed in but nothing. I have an android media player as well, and have no issues likd this on Netflix

What local streaming services (audio and video) do we have available to us ?

- Netflix
- Showmax
- Tidal

I've been doing some checking on my terminology and found I had it wrong, I meant "windowboxing" according to this article:

Based on the above I've seen "letterboxing" on some Showmax movies but not on TV series although some older series exhibit "pillarboxing" - par for the course I reckon.

IIRC you were having problems with GoT which is fine on my setup?

Yeh GOT was just one, which showed only in a small window, rather than in a full screen scenario. I tried everything, but eventually gave up.

Would like to have the option to force the aspect ratio either 4:3, 16:9, 16:10 or zoom etc. Dont know why this is not a standard option.

Yes, "Pillarboxing" (I said "diagonal letterbox" :)), thanks. I haven't gone through a lot of stuff, but so far I find the pillarboxing on some old South African series. Guess it's to do with the film and camera they used back then.
