Do you all know how I can buy a data bundle ad hoc, on my own and without having to deal with useless Vodacom personnel?

I have been through the Vodacom4Me website but since it is completely useless and only ever gives me errors no matter what I click that is no use. Their website says to dial *111# or 111 but the short code menu has no option for buying data and the voice menu has none either.

Lastly, I spoke to a person at their call centre who insisted that I can do it on the Vodacom4Me website but she clearly hasn't a clue how that website works. I have very rarely been treated in such a rude manner and she refused to give me the name of her manager.

So here I sit, still without a data bundle and I just can't find out how to do it. I would prefer to add my own whenever I like and I would like it to be simple. Is simple possible on Vodacom?

Thanks anyone who can help!

If I remember correctly, you buy 'normal' airtime from anywhere and convert it to data on the Vodacom4me site.

Thank you ocleroux. After several hours of arguing with Vodacom personnel I am finally in contact with a manager who has helped me by sending me to the new Vodacom site beta v. And guess what! I can't do it there either!
But he has agreed to do it manually for me for now until the site goes live and (hopefully) works.

Ocleroux can you tell me why prepaid customers can do this with a cellphone menu and contract customers can't? That seems very unfair considering I pay large amounts of money to Vodacom and am locked into a 2 year contract.

Hey Jane, you're not alone, i know this frustration. I too had to call someone and have them add the bundle manually for me, and after all that I still had to wait 24 hours until I had access to it, a royal pita!

Deep breaths girl :)

If your contract is with VSP you can add bundles from v4me (I have done this many times). If you are with someone like Nashua, then much of the v4me functionality will not be available to you.

I offered my help, and it was not accepted. Anyway.

The reason why you cant activate these things on *111# is I think of the whole authentication issue. In many cases, the user and the contract holder is not the same person...so if the user can just go and purchase bundles etc then the contract holder might just get a heart attack @ the end of the month.

Some vodashop can load airtime directly onto a number. These stores can also load you data bundles and sms bundles.SO you don't have to do any CONVERSION

Morkhans - the whole problem is that I could not do it on v4me. Still can't make changes as I like.

ocleroux - I couldn't exactly let you add a data bundle at the same time someone at the call centre is doing it can I? But thanks for the offer.

The new problem is that when I tried to change my month-to-month data bundle I could not do it on v4me, not a surprise. But then when I called the manager back to have it done he said then I will lose my entire bundle which is absolute nonsense. It is unbelievable the lengths I have to go to to get anything and it is unbelievable the kind of c**p that Vodacom pulls to rip off customers.

SpongeBob - I will NEVER go in to a Vodashop again after the way in which the personnel in the Kloof St branch treated me when I went in (on the advice of the call centre) for assistance.

You cant base the service of all Vodashops/Vodacares based on 1 shop's bad service.

Hi Jane

If you Service Provider is VSP

You can purchase a bundle on www.vodacom.co.za , login or register first if you need to. You then select My Vodacom, My Services then Broadband.

The v4me site is not going to be around for much longer which is why some of the functionality is gone.
