LOL , yep I think you guys are narrowing it down now . Still not sure as the netbook is at home . I do recall disabling a few of them though , but before I argue , let me check first .

Which OS are you running on the Netbook? And Which Ant-Virus?

If you have NetMeter, You can see if something is downloading and stop it. I always have NetMeter in the corner and keep an eye on it.

Windows Updates, Anti-Virus Updates, Other Program Updates?

(Wait... You're going to tell me their all switched off, right?)

And you are going to say that you have kids at home. The SP's will always say this.

Yes, I have switched off Windows update and AVG updates a few bytes a day. What else can update without you knowing?

SVCHOST can download big time and is difficult to stop if you don't know how.

Tried this and the computer reboots. SVCHOST MUST run as it is a windows file.

It can download megabucks per hour if you are not aware of it.

I used DUSUPERCONTROLER to stop it, but it has now expired.

Yup, unfortunately svchost deals with a whole bunch of different things, some of which like DNS resolution, are essential so you can't just block it completely.

Try a free personal firewall like Zone Alarm or Comodo, it will give you a lot more control over which incoming and outgoing ports each executable can open. Comodo also has a nice display of which executables are generating the most traffic.
