How to improve my gaming rig...

What can i add to this to improve performance?

Intel i5-750 2.66ghz - Currently OCed to 4.2ghz
Corsair H50 CPU Water cooler
2 x Sapphire 5770 1gb game edition (Equal to a 5870)
2 x 2gb Kingston HyperX DDR3-1600
ASUS P7P55D-E Pro Mobo
520W power supply - more than enough (Vantec ION 2)
1 x 80gb Seagate HDD - Windows

The only way i can think of is to go with raid 0? Either 2 x 500gb or 3 x 250gb...

Any advice or ideas?

You cannot add anything but a new gpu for performance, running raid will not make difference once in game. It might help with load times but not by much.

5970 should help improve :D. What performance issues you got? I found the 5770 crossfire to be rather poor. Sell em and get a 5870 that way you can add a 5870 and run them in crossfire.
 
The 5770 in crossfire is insane if you have the right motherboard... They run extremely fast. Even outperforms my friend's 5870 so I'm happy with them :).

So far i spent about R9000 on everything. Trying to go as cheap as possible for as much as possible. :D

I have no performance issues just wanna know what i can add. like raid 0 or ................. <-- Need ideas lol

You will improve performance by adding a bigger drive, R450 for a 500GB. Also, what monitor you got??

Samsung 2495HS
Microsoft sidewinder X6 keyboard
Coolermaster Sentinel Advance gaming mouse
1.5TB eSata External Seagate HDD

I was thinking of going SSD but I'm not gonna pay more than R1500 for it. And 4 80gb x Raid 0 is a lot faster than the one SSD (under 1500) for a better price (only need to buy 3) according to my knowledge.

So what do you guys think would be faster. For Seagates in raid 0 or 1 SSD (under R1500)

Logitech Z5500's would make me happy haha but I,m not paying R3000 for speakers :D

This is where stats and reality clashes. I think according to stats raid 0 on 4 drives is faster but in reality a SSD Will own its ass :D

You're confusing speed when talking SSD's. SSD's biggest advantage is it's ACCESS time (the time it takes to retrieve data) which is usually less than 1ms.

Normal hdd's have a access time from 8-12ms, therefore the SSD will "load" games far more quicker than any raid setup, simply because the time it takes to fetch data is alot less.

When you are talking throughput (ie how many mb/sec you can move) RAID 0 will be better as you have two drives doing the same work, as opposed to a single SSD.

That being said the latest incarnations of SSD's are VERY quick and I doubt even a RAID 0 setup will beat it in throughput.

I'm not sure I understand the OP's request, he wants advice on how to make his rig faster but doesn't want to spend the money??

Unfortunately with decent high end SSD's they don't come cheap.

That's the one I'd look at, as it's the latest generation and uses the very latest controller. I think Corsair also has a new release of their SSD lineup. To be honest, I had a few SSD's (two in my gaming rig, one in my laptop) and the maintenance to keep your speed is annoying (having to run the trim command etc).

Personally if you are looking for a "upgrade" to your rig, get a EVGA P55 FTW 200-series motherboard, 2x 5850's in x-fire and a GT240 for Physx. I'd rather spend money on the performance in FPS now and wait for SSD's to reach a stage where they don't need a massive amount of setup / maintenance work to keep their speed.

That's my 2c anyway.
 
I bought this PC recently. Have a budget of 11000 for it. I have 1700 left to be exact. so i wanna get whatever i can with the remaining money.

So its either a SDD or raid 0 with 4 hard drives lol
