I get these all the time and they are darn annoying:

Its like a ghost in my machine :P Sometimes it swaps position to something else and basically the only way I can get rid of it at the moment is with a reboot. Which is a pain in itself.

I dont only get them on this windows machine, I have had them in the past and co-workers confirm they also get them.

Any suggestions?

exorcism!!!!!!!! (and a linux dvd) :D

Does ctrl + alt + backspace work in winders?

haha... I also get those on my laptop sometimes. the only thing that works is rebooting. Must be a graphics or driver issue.

Does a desktop refresh help?

Nope.. you can even login and logout of a profile and its still there.

Even when the screensaver comes up.. its there.

PS.. do you have that link to that SBS solution we were talking about in another thread? :D

You could try selectively stopping certain processes from launching at startup until you find the process behind your "ghost". :D

Seriously tho, the only way I could get rid of this thing on XP was to reboot...

Don't you think it might be the theme thingy you are using? If you go to system properties (windows key and pause), click on advanced and click on settings (for performance) and uncheck the 1st 4 options there...? Maybe that will help?
