Hi all

Can someone please advise on how I can lock our Explora decoder completely? In other words, stop it from connecting for periods of time?

My problem is that when I am away everyone lounges and watches DSTV most of the day and nothing gets done, extremely frustrating. I have tried the following, to no avail:

1. Taking the remote - Decoder is controlled manually or by app
2. Removing the card - There is still some preview which seem worth watching
3. Forbidding - Lands on deaf ears
4. Pin code - Cannot get that working for a reason nobody seems to know.

I cannot load power cords, remotes, cards etc everytime I leave.

When the cats away, the mice play

It seems about the only option, just angers me that I would have to go such lengths of taking wires decoders etc, locking up and then reinstalling everything before I can switch on a service I alone pay for, for my enjoyment

Figure out how to set the pin, i know its kuk easy.

Just set it to all age groups.

On your distribution board check if you can switch off the plugs in the Tv room only. Secure the distribution board with cover and lock.

The kids would probably run an extension cord from another room that has power.

From what I remember from when I had DSTV, you can parent lock the whole system, age limit or individual channels. And it was simple.

Did you try searching "dstv parental control"?

+1. I'm sure the Parental lock allows you to lock everything! but remember to change you installation password as well. Complain to DSTV if the people contact them to reset the parental password once set.
