How to remove Searchme.com from Firefox.

It is an infection.

You need to clear out adware, malware and scan with a decent AV.

But before you start clear all browser history, cookies etc.
(if you have chrome on the same PC do the same. But there tell chrome to reset settings once you have cleared all)

You might also have to look for it under appdata/firefox(search the FF files and folders. Empty the temp file).
This you can check after running cleaning progs.
 
And its very likely piggy-backing off some other installed program.
check what you recently installed, if possible - remove them and see if it returns.
(I regularly have to cull all the mallware on my wife's laptop. Feel like taking a shower afterwards.)
 
Thanks to all who responded. It's gone now, or at least that's what I think. There was an uninstall option for Firefox and Chrome. I did it for Firefox and its seemed to have worked. If it reappears I'll post again.
 
Did you clear out adware and malware?
If not..
Uninstalling FF has only removed its active platform. It has not removed the problem.
